Last one of this series for now. Who can forget روح الروح ‘the soul of my soul’ Reem and her grandfather Khalid. How many more innocent men, women, and children will it take?

Images of Sidra’s body have gone viral, with justified outrage, although not enough outrage. How many victims of genocide have not gone viral? Imagine if this is what we see from the eye of a camera lens, what or how much do we not see?

“I’m so scared, please come. Come take me. Please, will you come?” were the chilling words said by Hind Rajab over the phone while a tank was inching closer and closer to take her life. This was also while she was surrounded by the dead bodies of her loved ones. Let’s not forget the two heroes who went to save her but sadly became the target as well.

For Prompt No.36 ‘’ARTEMIS”, I drew the moon with Artemis, along with the verse of the Holy Quran
‎وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا سِرَاجًا وَقَمَرًا مُنِيرًا
“Blessed is He who has placed in the sky, great stars and placed therein a [burning] lamp and luminous moon.” (25:61)

A little late this week for , but I am glad I got a little time to sketch this idea. Hopefully in the future I can make a much better version of it.

For Prompt No.35 ‘’ARMOR”, I drew an armor made of Dua Jawshan Kabir. Below is an excerpt from the book ‘Reflections on Dua Jawshan Kabir’ by Mohammad Ali Shomali (International Institute for Islamic Studies, Qom, Iran
Spiritual Quest Summer and Autumn 2012. Vol. 2. No. 2)

Dua Jawshan Kabir, literally Great Armor, has been narrated from Prophet Muhammad (s). In his beautiful introduction to this dua, the late Shaykh 'Abbas Qummi writes,
[This dua] is mentioned in the books, al-Balad al- Amin and al-Misbah of al-Kafa'mi. It is related from Imam 'Ali ibn al-Husayn Sayyid al-Sajidin (as) from his father from his grandfather, the Prophet of Allah, who received it from the Angel Gabriel during one of the battles. [In that battle] the Prophet had a very heavy coat of armor on to protect himself. The coat was so heavy that it was hurting the Prophet's body. In this state, the Angel Gabriel came to the Prophet and said, "O Muhammad! Your Lord conveys his salutations to you and tells you to take out this coat of armor (jawshan) and to recite this dua [instead], as it is a protection for you and your Ummah."1 (Qummi 1994, 86) [www.al-Islam.org]

Taking part in for very first time!

For Prompt No.34 of ‘’ONE LINE”, I chose to write the name “Ali” in the Arabic language. Imam Ali (as) was the son in law and cousin of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The Prophet (pbuh) says regarding Imam Ali (as عَلِيٌّ مَعَ الْحَقِّ وَالْحَقُّ مَعَ عَلِی “Ali is with the truth and the truth is with Ali”

خط
“Khat” translates literally to the word “line” in the Arabic language. When used with the word “Arabi” it could translate to “Arabic Line” or “Arabic Calligraphy”. It also holds similar meaning in the Persian language, and when used with someone’s name, it could mean “the way of...“. In the Urdu language it translates literally to “letter” or “writing”.

The logo design for Khat Creative Co. follows these meanings of the word “Khat” and incorporates them into a modern, minimalistic, and meaningful design which traces the letters “خ” and “ط” into its lines. These lines can also resemble the shape of a letter.
