Frisco Pack 290

Last night we celebrated all the hard work the Scouts, their Leaders and their Families have put in by completing their requirements and advancing to their next level of Scouting. It has been a great year and we look forward to seeing you at the 3 summer Pack events and again at the first fall meeting in August!

The Boy Scouts of America today announced that it will rebrand to Scouting America, reflecting the organization’s ongoing commitment to welcome every youth and family in America to experience the benefits of Scouting. The change will go into effect on February 8, 2025, the organization’s 115th anniversary.

Hi Pack 290,

Unfortunately, the weather is no cooperating with us this weekend. With heavy rain and potential thunderstorms in the forecast we are CANCELLING SPRING CAMPOUT. I know this is disappointing to our scouts. I encourage den leaders that were using campout as a final den celebration to hold a den meeting this weekend in Frisco to complete any last minute requirements and hand out belt loops/pins. I would encourage families to schedule their own campouts with their scouts as I am sure they are dissapointed at the news. It is a great way to spend quality time together. There are many local Texas State Parks nearby with options for Tent camping and Cabin camping.

Also, for families that missed any den meetings, all your requirements are DUE MONDAY. Please ensure that you get these completed and in scoutbook so that your scout can earn their rank at the advancement ceremony on May 6th.

Hello Pack 290! Reminder, we will be having our January pack meeting tonight at 7pm at Purefoy Elementary. Your participation in these meetings are an important component of your Scouting experience. We hope to see you there!

Today Cub Scouts from Pack 290 participated in Veteran's Day parades at three Frisco elementary schools. Pack 290 appreciates all those who served our country!

Pack 290 recently held our fall campout. The weather was perfect and the Scouts and their families had a great time!

Pack 290 Scouts, be sure to bring your filled out health forms to the campout this weekend. This is a requirement from BSA. We can't wait to see you this weekend!

Frisco Fire Station 6 recently visited our October Pack meeting and gave our scouts some great safety tips and a tour of one of their engines. We thank them for keeping our community safe for all residents!

Pack 290 held our first meeting of the school year. We were lucky it coincided with a nice cool front!

Hello Pack 290, reminder that tonight's Pack meeting will NOT be at the school, but rather at Crescent Park. Be sure to bring chairs with you. Your neckerchiefs and slides will be presented to you tonight, so you can arrive without wearing those as part of your uniform. Hope to see you there at 7pm!

Pack 290 celebrated our cub scout advancements recently. We are proud of each and everyone one of them and are thankful for their parents who support them as well as our volunteer den leaders, committee members and Scoutmasters.

Pinewood Derby is right around the corner! This is one of the highlights of the year for Pack 290 Scouts! The Scouts love building their cars and show a lot of creativity!! There are Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd within each rank as well as 1st, 2nd, 3rd Pack Champions. There are metals for the 12 different themes – Most Aerodynamic, Most Original Design, Most Realistic, Most Patriotic, Strangest Shape, Best Craftsmanship, Judge’s Choice, Best Customization, Best Wood Carving, Best Scouting Theme, Best Paint Job, and Best Block of Wood.

When: Saturday, March 25th from 10:30am to 2:30pm
• 10:30am-11:15am – Check-in*
• 11am – Pizza Arrives
• 11:30am – Races Start
• 2:00pm – Awards and Track breakdown (estimated time)
• 2:30pm – Track must be down and out of the cafeteria

We will be setting up for the Derby the evening of Friday, March 24th from 7-9pm. Feel free to stop by and help with the derby set-up. You can also check-in your car that evening as well. Remember if you check it in, it must stay at the school. It cannot go back home.

Pack 290 recently celebrated Blue & Gold, the birthday of scouting at Main Event in Frisco. It was a blast!

Last night our scouts who sold one thousand dollars or more during our fundraising got the opportunity to throw a pie in the face of their selected Scout Leaders. Our pack total for popcorn fundraising was a pack record of over 40k dollars.

The grand finale winners of the Space Derby! In 3rd place, Chase T. In 2nd place, Peter G. And the grand Champion, Preston K. Congrats!
