Videos by Our little Garden. A demonstration of how we produce our own food, in our back yard veggie garden. A few tips and tricks that we've learned along the way thanks to so many wonderful & generous gardeners, as well as a few tips of our own. Happy Gardening everyone :)
No Dig winter Gardening. Just plant the seedlings, and leave them alone. Feeling happy. Happy Gardening everyone 😀
Heavy rains,. Floods, power outages for days, no phones, no hot water etc, But, there's always some delicious veggie soup to warm up and feed the body and the soul. Tossing these in with some carrots, pumpkin, and swede we had. Feeling lucky.
Hot House update: I am very impressed so far with the assembly of this hot house. The superior quality design & manufacturing of this unit are clearly evident in the way it fits together. Even this unit, which is second hand, assembles properly, tightly, easily, and without the sloppiness so often seen in cheaper units. It just works - And it works really well. Very very happy thus far. 😁😁😁😁😁 ** I will continue assembling the frames base today, with drainage going in this week, mains water being plumbed to the inside of the hot house, heavy duty electrical conduit coming in under the base for future applications, and then crushed rock being placed into the base. Happy Gardening Everyone 😁
Leeks: Is there a better depth to plant them into the garden soil? - The one on the left is planted as many people do, so that the seedling soil level is just below the level of the garden soil surface. The leek seedling on the right has been planted down several inches (80mm - 100mm). Which is better?
A couple of our "Pick & Pick again" Wicking beds and their crops. (Pics with Pea Straw mulch down in the comments).
Asian greens. Very easy & very productive. An incredible food source for climates with limited sunlight and limited warmth through Winter. So simple and so useful. Happy Gardening everyone. 😃
Asian Greens can thrive well even in the middle of winter, and also Summer. However the transition period between seasons which sees temperatures range from "beach days" to "Light the wood heater" days, tends to cause many to bolt.
WINTER Beetroot: Just a quick little video showing the results of the beetroot we grew over winter, and some we planted just 3 - 4 weeks ago. We pulled a bunch out for salads and roast dinners, and will preserve the rest. We'll try to place some more photos in the comments below. Happy Gardening Everyone 😁
Planting Seedlings: "Density or Spacing" I'm often asked why I plant seedlings so much closer together than recommended. There are several contributing reasons, and hopefully this video will explain why we do it this way, in our "No Dig" areas of the garden. I hope it may help someone in some way. Happy Gardening Everyone. 😁😁😁
