I’d say Forest is pretty good at grouping
Say you felt a strong conviction to read the Bible and other stories to unconscious people…. Like in a coma patients… where would you start? Would you go to the local hospital or would a rehab place be better?
How do ya like that?!
Forest in his natural habitat
Had the lake to ourselves yesterday morning!
Rhombus fell asleep listening to Forest read about plants
Bob White!!
That one time Melvin bit my mother in law.
I wasn’t expecting a visit from my in laws.
We have a long dirt drive way with two gates to keep the critters in. P-paw has one leg so grandma gets out to open second gate. P-paw drives through and parks up by our house, while grandma walks the rest of the way to the house.
Except she doesn’t make it.
I see p-paw getting out of the truck and go to greet him and grab his walker for him.
I hear blood curdling over dramatic screams that sound familiar.
Then I see it. And I still see it perfectly in my head to this day when I think about it.
My mother in law, running for her life (running isn’t her thing) with a goose who is a little taller then half her height ATTACHED to her left butt cheek with his beak. He’s holding on for the ride, twisting his head, and punching her with his wings. Having the time of his life.
Mother in law keeps running- and screaming. I try to go help her but she runs to her son instead. My husband.
The geese are mine, and I am their person.
He tries to help her but she ran straight to him and Melvin is attached to her backside.
Husband is finally able to unlatch Melvin from said butt cheek.
I get there and gently pick up my handsome little Melly Belly and whisper to him that he did a great job protecting the yard from the sneaky intruder from the gate.
Mother in law is still going on about it when I get back to the house.
She comes back from the bathroom and says it looks bad.
I ask if she needs stitches and she declines but still goes on about it.
She now calls before coming over.
Picture of my sweet snuggle buddy Mr. Melvin below.
Rhombus is tall enough to look out the window!!
I feel so blessed to see these guys first thing in the morning, waiting to be let out of the barn!
A week or so ago we harvested the heads off these sunflower stalks to save the seeds. I didn’t get around to pulling the whole stock yet, and look! Oddly formed flowers started popping out! These are just from our black oil sunflower seeds
Baby green anole on our papaya tree
Forest grafted this lively peach tree onto a not so alive peach tree. He removed the tape today and it looks like it took!
Forest and I struck gold while collecting sunflower seeds today!
Anyone know how long rattlesnake root (Florida betony) lasts on the counter?
Boniato!!!! We can’t get it out of the jar 😂
But the slips keep coming and we keep planting them!
Patiently waiting for September!
Are you ready for bow season?!!
Don’t mind our super scary scare crow in the background 😂
Would ya look at that
Last night when I did my usual late night barn check, I noticed a rat snake in the duck's stall. We had caught one earlier that day. We assumed he was the reason one of our baby turkeys went missing
I rushed over to the ducks stall and grabbed the snake. It was huge and had something big in its belly...
Then I noticed another tail under a wood board. I stepped on it and moved the board while holding the first snake. Then I noticed a third rat snake!!
It was about 11pm and I was tired. I told the snakes this was a little excessive.
I was able to grab our gravity chicken watered and throw first snake into it. Then the second. Then the third. I put the lid on and set them in the milk room for the night.
I went to check our momma turkey and she had her two babies safely under her.
Then I checked Forest's quail
A snake had tried to eat Bernice but she was too big to swallow so she was just all squished and wet.
I told Forest this morning, he was sad and initially wanted to kill the snakes but then decided we should just relocate them. I'm so proud of him.
So if you see me letting four huge rat snakes go in the woods somewhere far from my house today, you’ll know why!
Our early morning pawpaw hike was a success!!
These are native wild growing Florida food!
Forest is saving the seeds to plant some in his food forest.
Oh how sweet it is
To trust in you Jesus

If this doesn’t win me the “World’s Best Wife” award, then I don’t want it!
This was my birthday present to my husband.

Melvin’s first Father’s Day as a dad! He’s such a good daddy goose! So gentle yet fiercely protective.
He got left behind so we get to have turkey snuggles today
And another cotton mouth! Is it snake mating season?!
