Seven of cups ciabatta with Maldon see salt crust and garlic.

wish you could smell how incredible it is. When was the last time you had seriously killer bread?

18/05/2021

MENU DROP: seven of cups sourdough! Just what a person needs in times when there is great uncertainty and emotions may feel all over the place. this feels especially after right now, as the world is trying to decide how to handle the continuing COVID-19 situation. There’s a push to return to normal life but there’s also confusion, hesitancy, and some fear. It can be hard to feel certainty about what is the correct action and choices. And this card we see that Each cup holds something different. Some cups have poison and some cups of jewels or treasure. With so many choices discernment becomes increasingly important. That in mind I feel that the tarot deck this week is suggesting a good simple nourishing choice.

The bread this week is a sourdough ciabatta with a sea salt and garlic crust.

this week baking day is Thursday. Place your orders by Wednesday night at 9 PM central time. Pick up on Thursday between 6 and 7 PM at 1839 S. Halsted St.

MENU DROP: this weeks sourdough is the four of cups. The image brings to mind a feeling perhaps of boredom or perhaps of reassessment, a need to go inward and examine empty feelings that may be arising.
it could be easy at times like this to feel dejected and do not notice all the good witch is around you. But four is also associated with foundations, indicating this might be a good time to look at what foundations are you setting up for your future self. The cups are associated things with emotions. But emotions are rising that need some attention and tenderness? The other good news is that times like this we know the feeling of boredom or unhappiness or weariness will not last and that just the other side of this pool in which were currently immersed is a new way of doing things. We may be emerging and releasing and letting go of old patterns that do not sustain us. Sometimes it’s just a natural rhythm that we need to go in words before we can come out into the world again. It occurs to me that at this time when most of the world is figuring out how safe is it to come out and see each other again as the pandemic evolves and changes that this is a natural place to find ourselves. As a result the bread this week will be very simple and nurturing that kind of comfort food foundation that feels so good in times of uncertainty. Simple sourdough loaf with Maldon sea salt crust. I recommend it toasted with a good amount of your favorite butter, perhaps with a cup of tea, and a quiet moment with a good book and a warm blanket.

this weeks pick up will be Saturday 5-6pm. 1839 S. Halsted St. $20 a loaf via Venmo, PayPal, or quick pay.

last week the card we drew was, The Fool. Since we are starting out on a new journey the many choices can be confounding. Perhaps rather than trying to think our way out of the complexity, the seven of cups reminds us to sit down and let everything settle until our hearts and minds feel more clear. This is the perfect loaf to sit and savor with some delicious accoutrement and perhaps a nice glass of wine or a lovely sparkling water with some nice minerality.

As you relax and let the mind drift appreciating the moment, calling in some gratitude for this rest, insights will come.

MENU DROP: The FOOL sourdough ciabatta with Asiago and red onion.

(For my regular bread folks please note the later pick up time, starts at 6 PM. Ciabatta takes a LOT of rising time and it all happens during the baking day not overnight as many other loaves do.)

there are many interpretations of the card, the fool, but what I would like to highlight this week is that one way of looking at this card is as a fresh start. Maybe it’s because people are starting to get vaccinated and the fact that we just had the spring equinox. Anyway it’s time, Don’t you think?

i’m throwing the red onions on top of the ciabatta to help boost our immunity and the cheese because cheese stimulates the same part of the brain as he**in but much more safely.
$20

(On a technical note I tried using a new method for posting and apparently it was a complete epic fail because it didn’t post and I’ve been so busy I didn’t even notice. Because some people place orders because they’re amazing even without knowing what the bread was going to be!)

Order by 6am tomorrow. Comment here to request, confirm and finalize order with payment through Venmo (Hillary-Johnson-1) , QuickPay , PayPal or cash if I know you.

MENU DROP!

Our sourdough selection for this Friday, March 19 is DEATH!(I love that one of my tarot card books has a quote from the Bible which reads, “Unless the grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it cannot grow.“ I love it because it reminds us of the cycles of life, of death and rebirth.

Reminding us that we too are part of the great wheel turning.

This week our bread is a ciabatta with lemon and rosemary and sea salt. The ciabatta is a beautiful sourdough with a nice crispy crust that’s not too intense and a beautiful soft fluffy crumb. I tested this loaf last week and the results were unanimous! Delish!

As for the death card, this is actually very exciting. It means we are entering a new era. It is time to let go of everything which is not worthy of our time or attention. It’s time to grieve our losses. But after the grief comes to the transformation. And because this is a card pulled for the collective this means a wonderful new beginning for all of us. The card invites us to examine our lives carefully and purge what we must to make way for new growth not only in our bodies, but our minds and our hearts and our spirits. I think after #2020 , we are certainly ready.

so let this loaf of bread be part of your Friday evening meal as you close out one time and open up to what is new.

curbside pick up starts at 5 PM and ends at 6 PM , 1839 South Halsted. Place your orders by Thursday at noon.

thanks for your patience. We got our vaccines yesterday and it really knocked us out. But now it’s time to get back up and do all the things. Be safe, happy, strong, and hoping you find some ease in your day. Thank you so much as always. I’m incredibly grateful for all of you.

And this week I remembered to make a loaf for us!

12/03/2021

A special ciabatta with lemon, rosemary, black salt. Mmmmm.

09/03/2021

MENU DROP!
The bread this week is the Six of Cups, a ciabatta with salt and olive.

The six of cups invites us to remember what was good from our past and bring it forward in some fashion in our day-to-day life right here and now.

Sometimes we have the idea to throw out the baby with the bathwater when we’re making change. We feel like old relationships and traditions are of no value. However this could be a bit rash.

When making change it’s good to stay grounded and not get too caught up in the excitement of making change it to look back with care and ask what do we want to retain.

The six of cups asks us to look not only at our needs but also at the needs of those around us.

So maybe this is a good time while you’re eating your bread to sit back enjoy some reminiscence. Perhaps you can bring some thing from the past into the present so that you make your future built on all of your potential, all of your gifts.

Purchase a loaf or two or three - some for you and some for friends.

The smell of white truffle is everywhere in here!

MENU DROP FOR WEEK OF MARCH 1, 2021

The Lovers Loaf with white truffle and grey sea salt.

Last weeks truffle crackers were such a hit that we are keeping the love going this week with more white truffle goodness.

I feel like the lovers card coming in at number six is a great reminder for where we are all at right now in this new pandemic world.

Having been apart from each other for so long, everyone is craving connection. One of the other ideas that comes with this card has to do with the tree of life, which reminds us that fundamentally we are all connected. This is a good time to remember that fundamental truth especially we find ourselves disagreeing over details or issues. In this deck, we see an archangel over ARC, the angel is Raphaël the patron saint of healing. Perhaps the card reminds us that we all could use a good heart to heart conversation about how we want to be in relation with each other, And showing up as the best version of ourselves we can.

Order by Wednesday at 9pm.

As always $20 each or $60/month subscription. (Save $20 that way)

COMPLETION CRACKER - THE WORLD N0.21

Two rounds of sourdough Completion Crackers with Irish butter and surprise seasonings. $20-

This week’s bread because we have completed a time, a cycle. Now that the past is over and gone, the cycle comes around full circle and we begin again. Before we move on though, it’s good to pause and celebrate what has been accomplished and offer gratitude that we can be present to witness and create.
The way is open to begin anew, taking the lessons of the previous cycle with us consciously. Allowing time for reflection. We are the authors of our mindset. When we have a beautiful vision of our desired future, will be able to do what it takes to make it so.

The world is ours, let’s be the most skilled creators and tenders we can be for all beings, now and in the future generations. What world would we create if we imagined seven generations into the future looking back to say to us, “thank you! If it hadn’t been for your care, your loving attention, we wouldn’t be here today. We know it couldn’t have been easy. We know there must’ve been very dark times. So, thank you all for your heart and perseverance.“

The bread of the week for February 19 will be, “The Hanged Man,“ a delicious Greek inclined sourdough loaded up with Kalamata olives. $15 (because 1 stands for us, and 5 , for the chaos we may feel being challenged to see things from such a startling perspective.

The hanged man is a card that freaks some people out. But really the card is calling us to consider a new perspective. If we look closely we can see that the hanged man is there by choice. He is no one’s victim.
The card encourages us to slow down and reevaluate if it’s about ourselves. Or it could be pointing at someone else who we see as being more spiritually attuned, or daring to be different.

There’s a sense of making a choice in order to move to new growth, evolution.

The card also has a sense of reminding us that we can be true to ourselves even if others don’t see things our way, we can gather our courage and forge a head with what we feel to be true for ourselves.

Kalamata olives are incredibly delicious and good for us. They are rich in oleic acid, a type of MUFA linked to improved heart health and cancer-fighting properties. They're also a good source of iron, calcium, copper, and vitamins A and E.

BREAD MENU DROP!

this weeks sourdough bread is, “The Star,“ coming in at number 17 in the tarot deck major arcana.

We all know that 2020 was one heck of a year. And now that we’re in 2021 it’s really time to celebrate a new beginning and have trust that things will sort themselves out if we just do the work.
This tarot card is associated with all kinds of positive vibes. Some of it includes a feeling of relief and renewal, of feeling restored and finding inside ourselves that we have greater capacity for selflessness and many talents we didn’t even know were there that support creativity not just an art making, but in the way we craft our entire lives. If you look at the card she is balanced 1 foot in the water 1 foot on land, the star shines bright above her other constellations glow as well.
It indicates that this is a perfect time for us to work hard so that we can really achieve what we want personally and in our shared caretaking of our beautiful blue marble planet. As you eat this bread this week, I invite you to call in for yourselves feelings of inspiration, confidence, and a faith in yourself for now and in the future. Give yourself permission to make that quantum leap, Into what your heart truly needs, wants, desires. This card invites us to extend ourselves into our communities. To do the best we can as the best version of ourselves.
