Life's Journey and Second Chances

Sitting in my tiny, little vacation home, just back from my favorite getaway to Harmonie State Park. I go there often to refresh and renew. . .A chance conversation today with someone who knew my best friend years ago brought sweet memories and a fresh moment of missing him into this day, and that's a good thing. As I sat in the woods and the "quiet" of the park, I was surprised to see an owl swoop down out of the trees, in search of dinner, I suppose. I saw a tree sway up high and heard the leaves swishing as a squirrel moved among the upper branches . I heard birds singing as they settled down for the evening. Driving slowly out of the park on my way back home, I listened frogs croaking in the creek bed, and tree frogs answering their cousins in the water. I inhaled the scent of earth and green vegetation that is particular to large, wooded areas. I startled a young deer munching on leaves. I smiled at the twinkling lightning bugs at the edge of the forest. Sometimes, even when all things in your your life are good, you need to take a step back and breathe. Sometimes. . .well, you know. I hope you have someplace - physical, or maybe just in your memories - where you can go to find the you that you've been missing. Music and laughter, blessings and hugs, peace and joy. 🎶😄🙏🤗🕊️💕

Sitting on the front porch, enjoying the breezes from storms and rain that surround our community, but that so far have avoided sharing more than ten or so raindrops. I moved my ferns from the porch to the steps, hoping to avoid dragging the hose around tomorrow morning. Since we need the rain, though, maybe I need to put the ferns back and then go wash my car - pretty much guaranteeing some rain, right?? (I am sad for those folks in the path of Hurricane Ida and the remnants of that storm and hope that the situation improves quickly for all of them.) My liriope is blooming like crazy, and looks pretty this evening with the lights shining around the edges. Take a deep breath and look for the good in your life, and expect the not-so-good moments to melt away in good time. Music and laughter, blessings and hugs. 🎶💕🙏🤗
