You just bought your first home or found a landlord who allows pets. You think: Now finally I can get that dog I always wanted! Stop. Check the breed with your insurance carrier. There are a few breeds and any mix of these breeds that can preclude you from getting insurance. There were some recent news stories about pitbulls mauling and killing children and injuring adults. Be authentic to who you truly are. Don't change to "fit in". During my high school years I performed in a play that represented the history of American Women as they fought for the right to vote. I volunteered for the International Club that celebrated women and diverse cultures from around the globe. As I entered my high tech career I volunteered in organizations that encouraged more women to make careers in Engineering. I furthered my appreciation when part of my role in my Purchasing job allowed me to support and develop Minority Business Enterprises celebrating female entrepreneurs among others. As I left high tech for my real estate career I served on the local Board Of Directors on the Women's Council of REALTORS® supporting the growth of women in all aspects of the real estate industry. I want to give a big shout out to my Mom, Barbara Gould, on this day. She taught me from birth forward to be authentic. She taught me not to let any obstacles stand in the way of my wants, needs, and desires. She encouraged and supported me to depend on myself while loving and caring for those around me. Take a moment to know and recognize Sgt. William Carney. In his time of serving our country, if a Black man was caught by the enemy he was killed on the spot. They took none of them as prisoners. There were laws preventing Black people from becoming educated. In the midst of his terrible time in our country's history, this man stood proud, a good man among men, for our country and the people he served.
