Personally, I think that should permanently change the name of Kite Flight to Gargoyle Gilders. They only use that name for their Fall themed Happy Hauntings. But I think castles and gargoyles go together!
And did you know that gargoyles are guardians and protectors of earthbound spirits? …you know, us. Many actually considered them spiritual protectors of churches.
Now fairies??? Don’t trust those little b*st*rds. Be wary of the fae!
Anyone who know me know that FALL IS MY FAVORITE!!!! 🍂🍁

You are the answer to every prayer I've offered. You are a song, a dream, a whisper, and I don't know how I could have lived without you for as long as I have.

The Notebook
When I was a girl, I was fascinated by Narnia. I wanted to be brave like Lucy but deep down I knew that should the wardrobe ever open up for me, I’d slam it closed and run. But now? I think I’d take a peek. And should the Tardis door ever be open, I’m grabbing Tony’s hand and we’re off!
One window, one door, one whole family. As many as 10-12 people lived in this room at any given time. And any one of them could be sold off at the whim of their owners. They weren’t seen as families, they were commodities. And their purpose was to make money— either by direct labor or being sold for profit.
If that thought sickens you, it should.
You should also know that today, even as you are reading this, it is estimated that 49.6 million people live in modern slavery around the world. S*x trafficking, forced labor are the root causes and nearly a quarter of these victims are children.
Don’t fool yourself that slavery is a dark past. For many, it is daily life, even today. Now you know, so what will you do with that information?

Four preserved and restored slave quarters still stand at Magnolia Plantation. Each of these dwellings is divided in half and a whole family would have stayed on each side.

One step through this threshold will bring you face to face with how slave families lived. I hope it provokes thoughts and feelings and maybe makes you a little grateful. 🤍
It’s easy to get lost in the beauty of Magnolia Plantation and forget that at one time in its history there were more than 200 slaves.
For 174 years, enslaved Africans served the Drayton Family and tended the rice plantation that made many generations of that family rich.

The Audubon Swamp Garden is a 60-acre cypress and tupelo swamp on the grounds of Magnolia Plantation. It was named after famed artistand ornithologist John James Audubon, who visited the plantation before the Civil War
Some of the trees at Magnolia Plantation are ancient. Near one of the gazebos, you can find the John Drayton Hastie Tree which is over 300 years old!
