Music and mosaic

I’m a pianist that likes to potter around with detritus.

Using what I have on hand while waiting for my order of tiles to arrive.

My obsession with found objects off the beach … should I do a border of some sort? Footloose and tootsie free.

I have probably done enough of these now. What to do with the rest of the china.

Anyone getting Fred and Myrtle ( remember the Paua House) vibes?

Almost bordering on an obsession, methinks! No. 7!

Helping spread the word!

Finally finished the basic mosaic design taken home after a mosaic workshop at Otago Museum literally a few days before lockdown. Forgotten all those lovely techniques we were shown and learnt first hand how quickly clay tiles suck out moisture in grout - quicker than the salt vampire sucking the salt out of humans on planet M-113.

Fan of Art Deco so here is my rendition of the Chrysler Building. Unfortunately dark grey grout promised on the packaging turned out to be an insipid veering to off white shade so full effect not quite how I imagined.

A date for Dunedinites to put in your diaries:
Dunedin Youth Orchestra concert. Hanover Hall, 23rd May.
This weekend I was lucky enough to be asked to work with the second violins. They’ll be the mighty Moldau river flowing, and generally fabulous throughout. I’m really jealous that they get to play Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Marquez - it’s music that you can’t help but want to dance to, shaking your maracas. Be there.
