Harbour Tales
-
Wind's whispers, a soothing grace,
Yachts nestle, finding a tranquil space,
Rigging hums, waves weave their tales,
Where beauty's etched in dockside trails.

The Winter Sea - Sunset
-
When the sun on Blairgowrie pier sinks, the boundless vista slowly shrinks with twilight tints at nighttide. It quietly paints the dusk in gold, orchid pinks, and even scarlet and brights the winter sea.

A Symphony of Autumnal Splendor
-
Amidst the changing of the seasons, Rippon Lea Estate Hut becomes an autumnal paradise, where the trees ablaze with golden, orange, and red hues create a breathtaking canvas for quiet reflection or joyous exploration. The air is refreshingly cool, and the aroma of fallen leaves and wood smoke is carried by the crisp breeze. The crunch of leaves underfoot while the gentle rustling of branches in the wind serves as a soothing symphony.

By planning out the composition, lighting, and mood beforehand, tonal study always helps me refine my vision for the final painting.

An Abandoned Shipwreck
-
A ship once sailed with purpose and pride,
Now abandoned, left to the ocean's tide,
A rusting relic of days gone by,
A haunting symbol of a sailor's sigh.

Waiting for The Fresh Catch
-
The sound of the waves crashing against the jetty and the smell of salt in the air only add to the excitement of waiting for the fresh catch. The simple joys always come from being connected to nature.

Still Stand
-
As silent witnesses to history,
The kilns in Bright, a mystery.
Once bustling with activity,
Now standing still, in fields of greenery.

Of an industry that once thrived,
But now, in these kilns, only memories reside.
Yet still they stand, in fields of green,
Echoes of the past, to be seen.

The Harbour of Rest
-
There's a lovely harbour of peace and rest,
Away o'er the storm-tossed foam;
Oh, my heart is seeking that haven blest,
I'm longing to reach that home.

Softly I'll glide with the flowing tide,
When murmuring winds shall cease;
Into the harbour, the beautiful harbour,
Harbour of rest and peace.

Resting Boats
-
Stunning lake views in the tranquil hamlet of Nungurner, a hidden gem close to Lakes Entrance but away from the main town. Disconnecting from the digital world, this place it's all about relaxation, reconnecting with nature, and enjoying a slower pace of life.

Dawn By The Sea
-
I hear the waves, on the long shingle thrown,
Slowly draw backward, plunge, and never cease.
Against that sea--sound the earth--stillness lone
Builds vaster in the early light's increase.

Happy Back to School
-
Nothing makes kids happier than going back to school when it's a sunny day.
-
Tourmont was built in 1892 as a private property and it was designed by the architect John Beswicke. There were two buildings of three-colour face brick: one is a two-storey, iron verandahed house; the other is a French chateaux with a dash of English Tudor. Fintona Girls’ School moved to Tourmont in 1936.

Sometimes we need to take a break and slow down. Read a book, join a workshop, and recharge ourselves.
-
I recommend this book to you:

by William B. Lawrence
-
“I paint because it interests me. I can’t find anything that interests me more. Painting isn’t fun, though sometimes the results are funny. Painting is frustrating, rewarding, calculating, spontaneous, revealing, obscure, hard work and sometimes relaxing……”

Consume the penetrating magnificent sun

Entranced peaceful mind, stroll through the canola fields

Fingertip brushing textures, a new day has begun”

The Wattle Park Chalet In The Morning
-
One of the reasons old buildings are attractive to me might simply be that they’re old and irreplaceable. I like old things due to my past career experience – hence ‘antiques’ – and buildings are no exception. The story behind an old building often speaks to me of another time, of particular events, of old crafts, and even of particular historical characters. It’s a bridge between the past, the present, and the future.
-
The Wattle Park Chalet is an elegant structure in the rustic Tudor style of English architect Sir Edwin Lutyens and was completed by Tramways Architect Alan G. Monsbourgh in 1928. The Chalet is listed on both the Heritage Victoria and National Trust Registers.

Sunday Morning at Mailing Road
-
One of my favourite family activities is walking down the Mailing Road in Canterbury after having brunch on weekend. The rich mix of Victorian, Edwardian and inter-war buildings always caught my eyes. Narrow shophouses with verandahs, ornamental fixtures and elegant façade details combine with heritage features in the public realm and mature elm trees to create a unique streetscape character that speaks strongly to its history.
-
The Mailing Room is a Victorian-style building, on the corner of Mailing Rd, which was built in early 1909. From the exterior, this heritage-listed building still looks like the post office, but it now houses a cafe. The building shut its doors as a post office in 1996 yet evidence of its former life has been preserved through touches such as the stained glass windows that read Money Order and Telephone Bureau.

Sun Rising On The Sea
-
“As the sunrise approaches, the clouds double-down and start to coalesce
As if their consolidation will scare the sun away
But, alas, tis’ fruitless to think thus
And fruitless to stop the sun from rising
On the horizon it has arrived, a golden piercing fire beneath the clouds
and highlighted in their fringes
as if encapsulating them and making them part of its opening act
but make no mistake — the sun remains the star of the show.”
