Sky boss has been at Moore's since 1 am, he was having bouts of colic, unaffected by banamine. We are waiting on updates this morning. He appreciates everyone's thoughts

My boy ❤️

We cut down an old cattle gate so we don’t have to halter them and walk them all the way around to get in and out to pasture and they seem quite pleased with the arrangement !

We love that our horses want to be with us and will come in when they are called

*UPDATE: THE 4 BOYS ARE SAFE!! **There are 4 ex chuck wagon thoroughbreds at the tofield auction right now! I believe they are geldings. In rough shape but super friendly!! Can anyone open their heart and home to these poor boys?! There is a bidder on site. Will sell cheap and are at great risk of going for meat! 😢

When you eat too much grass and you can no longer roll all the way over, you walk away like it never happened...

To say this horse was underestimated is a huge understatement. I am simply blown away everyday by his demeanor, talent and wonderful mind and cannot fathom how he ended up unraced at 4 years old with a meat only label on him.

The track he came from told us he was dangerous and should not be ridden. Below is a quick clip of his third ride and 1st ever trot. ( please excuse my leg as I have not ridden in 8 months and this trot was bigger than expected lol).

I just LOVE this horse and parting with him one day will be a true heartbreak!

We had some craniosacral therapy done and we are feeling quite alright!

Sky Boss is settled in at his new facility so he can start school and rehab 💗🐴

Sky Boss falls asleep for chin rubs lol. I've heard of peoples horses liking this but he is by far the most dramatic about how much he likes it. 🐴💗

We thought it would be fun to do candygrams for our equine friends this Valentine's day! You can send one to anyones horse you wish, or your own from you! Candygrams will be a small box of horse treats for your favorite equine valentine.

Details:
Candygrams are $10 each to include shipping.

Message the page with who you would like it sent to, if you don't know their address, we will contact them on your behalf keeping you anonymous.

Boss starts rehab next week so we are trying to fill up his own piggy bank a bit so he stops emptying ours 🤭.

Hope everyone is staying warm! With the extreme cold weather we are feeding alot more as well as beginning to do more thorough diagnostics and treatment, we will be needing to a fundraiser soon. Our T shirt draw and greeting cards were unsuccessful fundraisers so we are turning to you for advice on what kind of fundraising you like to participate in?

I have put a request out to do a plant or paint night but they have a 20 person minimum requirement. We want everyone to see value in the fundraising we do so we are opening up the floor to your suggestions :).

Thank you everyone. Hope you and all your fur kids stay warm and well!

King Charles, Thoroughbred, foaled in 1937. Grandson of Man O' War who played the horse The Pie in National Velvet. Trained as a hunter and owned by a wealthy socialite, he was offered for use in the film. At the end of filming, the horse was gifted to Elizabeth Taylor, who fell in love with the horse prior to and during production and was an accomplished rider, on her birthday and remained with her the rest of his life.

Sky Boss had a check up this evening and despite an old injury, he has been given the go ahead to start doing some groundwork. We will assess him further as we look to start riding him and begin to administer some therapeutic treatments.

He has some anxious habits from the track we hope to help him with . We are very excited to be working with Monty Gwynne from Equispeak to help us rehab Sky Boss in a gentle and fear free way. We welcome you to follow along with his training sessions as we will be videotaping his progress.

He also had a much needed trim today and although his feet were neglected and broken, his farrier said he will be good as new soon.

He got an early Christmas present from us yesterday. We bought him some Hansbo wraps to help give him the best chance at a full recovery.

10 days until he finishes his quarantine :).

Amateur Showcase: Spain Sails To Grand Prix On An OTTB 11/12/2019

Amateur Showcase: Spain Sails To Grand Prix On An OTTB Jenny Spain is the first to admit that she didn’t start riding off-the-track Thoroughbreds by choice. “The reality is I probably got into it because it’s what I could afford,” Spain said. “I never had money to buy a horse, not as a kid a...

Horses go from racetracks to slaughterhouses: 'It's just a job to me' 10/12/2019

Horses go from racetracks to slaughterhouses: 'It's just a job to me' More thoroughbreds are slaughtered each year than die as a result of racing. Mike McBarron makes a living on it. Sonja Meadows is fighting to stop it.

Congratulations Mary Ellen. Thanks to everyone who participated in the raffle 🙏.

Take Two

Why the thoroughbred? Thoroughbreds have been in North America since the 17th century, all originating from 3 famous Arabian stallions. Unlike other breeds, TBs have unique personalities and specific needs that aren't always easy for every horse owner to accommodate. The thoroughbred will often be passed from home to home from a very young age. If you are lucky, your life will be touched by one of these incredible horses in your lifetime. The thoroughbred posses an incredible work ethic and an enormous amount of heart. With the courage of lion and the heart of a hero, this athletic breed of horse remains a top athlete in the world of equestrian sport and they make up most of the newer breeds of horses today.

In 2019, 20,000 thoroughbreds were born in the US and approximately 10,000 thoroughbreds will be slaughtered in 2019. Half of the foals born this year will eventually be slaughtered for meat, most of them having the ability to have had second careers if given the chance. We want to be that chance. We want to be part of the change, the shift in humanity where humans realize all lives matter beyond a sport or a paycheck. The shift where compassion trumps greed and we all help one another.

Please join us as we grow, learn and with your help, make small changes that will one day lead to big changes. Rescuing one horse won't change the world, but that horse’s world will change and so will each life that is touched by that horse, and that is how transformative action happens, one by one, piece by piece, brick by brick.
