My heart is completely shattered to learn the news of Ashley’s passing. She was a light in a world full of darkness and an angel. We would talk about our dads, mental health, true crime and meeting each other someday. We would laugh at internet trolls and stick up for one another. One of the things we’d talk about often is how tiring rescuing can be with no breaks and the expectations people have for us to continue rescuing for the rest of our lives. Please check in with your friends and with yourselves. If rescuing too overwhelming its okay to take a break or stop. Check in on your loved ones and seek help if you need to. Every year i’d reach out at this exact time because our dads passed away the same month of the same year. She was so very close to him and loved him so much and now she’s with him💔 Rest easy my friend, until we meet again.

I hopped on just to say this and with that i will continue to honor my own mental health and log off.

Hey everyone. I’ve been dreading posting this but I figured I had to do it sooner or later.
As a lot of you know, things haven’t been easy since Winston’ passing in 2019- which was the day I moved back to Kuwait. I was filled filled with grief, trauma, and lots of anger. With no break or hesitation, I coped by going straight into rescuing in a place where there was no animal rights, no 24/7 vets, no gov supported TNR, and local adoptions were highly unsuccessful. I went from just fostering kittens in DC for a well built rescue in a community that protected animals to picking up dying or dumped cats/ kittens on the street, spending months on treating them with no 24/7 vets, and flying them across the globe by myself.
Soon, my way of coping started to do more harm than good for myself. I’d take “breaks” but id be scrolling through my dms and explore page filled with dying or dumped cats in need which did no good to my mental health.
For this reason, i’ve decided to take a break indefinitely. Whether its a month or six months- I don’t know. What I do know is that I need time to focus on myself and my wellbeing which means I will be logging off of my account completely.

We need to start normalizing proper breaks in rescue because it can be really exhausting- and we can get caught up without realizing how damaging it may be to our mental health if we don’t take proper breaks.

Thank you for everyone whose supported me and I will be back❤️

Anyone whose been keeping up with this account knows what I do for my colony cats that live at my grandmas house. 99% of them are spayed and neutered and most are vaccinated. Some have been a part of my colony for over 4 years. Everyone who knows me knows how much I love Theo, who I recently tried to take indoors but was completely miserable and depressed- and was a lot happier and content being a colony cat (visit my previous post about him for more details).

I knew that being a colony cat comes with risks, never did I think that I would Theo and the rest of my colony cats would go missing because our neighbor decided to start trapping the cats and dumping them somewhere else. Many people view cats as a nuisance so they think relocating them will get rid of them. This is WRONG. The vacuum effect exists- meaning once cats are removed from a colony, other cats will see it as free territory to take over, and the cycle will continue. My colony cats were occupying their territory without multiplying because I put in so much effort to spay and neuter 99.99% of them- and now I have no idea where some of them went. I physically saw 2 cats stuck in a trap for hours and let them go- one of them being Theo’s half sister. Theo went missing a week before that and it couldn’t have been a coincidence.

I spoke to one of the house workers and he said that the owners want the cats gone. I don’t wanna get into details but I still don’t know where they are dumping them. It just sucks how I worked so hard on sterilizing my colony to AVOID overpopulation for both the cats and the houses around because I know how many people dislike cats here.

Overall, I find myself frustrated and heartbroken- and I hope that wherever Theo that he’s okay💔 I hope that I will get to the bottom of where they’ve been taking them.

Side note- our culture, society, and other reasons- I cant just knock on peoples doors. There is also a major cat overpopulation issue on the streets and no protection towards the animals.

Reposting from - update on Salt! This is why I made sure that their mother and father spayed and neutered ASAP and educated the family about breeding scottish folds as well as the overpopulation crisis and they listened with open ears.

A checkup for Ms. Goose today at 💕 Because of poor & irresponsible breeding, Goose is at high-risk for a myriad of significant health challenges throughout her life, so we’re hoping to get an idea of what that might look like, and how she’s doing now.

You see, as cute as Scottish Folds are, they are an inherently unethical breed. According to several studies done on this breed, “some authors go as far as hypothesizing that the calm character of the Scottish Fold comes from the fact that they are living in pain.”

This is due to the fact that they’re bred purely for aesthetics, and the reason their ears fold is because of a lack of cartilage. Folds should never EVER be bred with other Folds because they’d have double recessive genes, which can lead to severe deformities. And, of course, Goose is the product of Fold x Fold parents 💔

While she isn’t currently showing any severe symptoms, she does appear to have at least minor dwarfism and a wonky tail. Her adopter will be closely monitoring her as she grows, and knows that she could have a shorter lifespan if her quality of life becomes poor due to these issues (which would cause chronic pain).

All of this is to say: please, PLEASE stop buying unethically bred animals & please just stop buying cats altogether. There is no reason to go to a cat breeder other than pure aesthetics, and I promise you a rescue kitten will be just as great, if not better! 😉 I just hope Goose’s story can shed some light on the horrible things we’ve done to animals in the name of “cuteness”.

Hey everyone. Lately i’ve been struggling with my asthma especially this past month and unfortunately to top it off I just got covid (yes it still exists and sucks btw). Scarlet update! After another round of Fenbedazole and Metro, her 💩 wasnt getting any better so we booked an apt at the vets to check if she’s still giardia positive. Turns out she is now negative for giardia… buuut positive for coccidia 🫠 (I asked her previous vet to check for coccidia but he didnt have enough experience to identify it under a microscope). She’s been on meds the past couple days and we’re hoping it can finally help her p**p. Poor girl hasnt caught a break but thankfully she’s still her funny goofy self. We’re hoping she has some normal looking 💩 soon!!

Everyone meet the last 2 members of the foundation for a while. Still no names because I just picked them up. So many pleas for help lately and this was one of the few times i’ve accepted surrenders because they were desperate for help. I will attempt to get the mom and dad fixed when possible.

04/12/2022

I’d like to introduce you guys to 2 new members of the foundation. The kittens aren’t too socialized and are quiet spicy but are warming up with time with their new foster home.

A lady adopted a couple cats and didn’t get around to spay and neuter them although she had good intentions. They kept reproducing until the situation is got out of hand. There was a plea for help so I went over and decided to pull 2 kittens and donate towards spaying a few females including their mom. No cat should be giving birth at 8 months old and dealing with kittens when she’s somewhat of a kitten herself ☹️. Hopefully with time the situation will get under control one spay/neuter at a time. Sometimes spreading compassion and lending a helping hand can go a long way.

Dear Kiwi, im sorry the world was so cruel to you. I tried my best to save you but I was too late.

Caged Bird
BY MAYA ANGELOU
A free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wing
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.
