So if you have a baker friend or family member I’d like to point out the below on behalf of all my fellow cake makers esp for family and friends and how they expect free cakes and they don’t know how to say NO!

When you order a cake you don’t really understand what goes into it. Here are a few things to make you think:

The long hours, the running around to get ingredients needed.

Time away from actual paying cakes which they then have to decline because they are making your free cake

Money out of their own pocket - each time they are making a free cake it’s costing them at least more than K100 or less and this is without charging labour, overheads and profit costs not to mention hours on their feet

Also remember how many friends and family this person has and how many milestones! There will be countless milestone birthdays. So think about how many free cakes they would have to make. It’s not fair is it ?!?

So when you ask a baker friend or family member to make a cake talk money first! Ask them for a quote so you don’t make them feel awkward. Because some people do find it hard to say no.

If you don’t take the above into account I’d like to ask you a question? Would you go to work for free if I asked you to for two whole days ! Without earning a single toea - I think not.

Cake businesses for people pay their bills or sustain themselves just like you do with your jobs!

So let’s appreciate the hard work from your cake maker ❤️❤️❤️
