The small town between Melbourne and Adelaide where kelpies reign supreme 10/06/2024

We’ve been a bit quiet here at the Community Garden lately! But motivation will surface again for us all I’m sure…. Who was around on the Weekend for our Famous Kelpie Festival??
Such a great Turn out and good revenue for our Town and Businesses.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

I need help- who would like to put their hand up to help coordinate a bit more ‘happenings’ at the Garden??

I’m more than happy for someone to say to me- I’ll take the reigns from here: Life is extremely busy or full which ever way you look at it and finding time to fit the Community Garden into that is something that falls off the list easily.
What do people want?? Do the Community want more Garden beds? More trees? What type of trees? What vegetables? ( this isn’t a post for a job list for me, more a starting point for communication for people to talk) see a job , get it done etc.
Also for anyone wondering we do have a watering system ( was plumbed in in January…. I again haven’t had time to get it working so anyone who is able to - go for it 🤣)

Taking a background roll was always something I wanted , I wanted people to be able to come and do what they wanted in the Garden without feeling the need to ‘check’ with me first.
So here is me trying to pass the baton -

Hello All!!
It’s been a minute-
Life has been extreme busy over this wonderful Christmas/New Year Break! ( can we call it a Break? Doesn’t seem like we’ve stopped much)
Glorious Sunshine and Rain- what a Fortunate Summer, the Garden is still full of Beautiful Produce for you all to Enjoy! ☀️💧
We have some Very Tasty Blood Plums ready for picking - I sampled one today, the Apples are not quite ready but amazing thanks to the Bird Netting how much more Fruit we have this year !! 🍎🍏🍐🍑
And Lastly - we have had a Timer installed !! {Insert Happy Dance } 💃🕺💃🕺
I just need to work out how to set it with the Instructions and will laminate them also and leave down at the garden accessible for all to see.
This will enable all our Raised Garden Beds to be watered if we need ! No more Watering Schedule!! Other Garden beds will occasionally need a bit of loving but this should help keep our Volunteer Hours down to minimal.

Another Great Local Event this weekend!!

Photos from Casterton Community Garden's post 06/11/2023

Watering tonight - picked a few handfuls of produce- cheeky Woodland Ducks were enjoying the bugs after the sprinklers were on! Think that’s why the Strawberries are looking so healthy!! No Bugs!!

Spuds are almost ready, although few nice “chat “ size ones ready to go!! Best thing about Potatoes is there is no getting rid of them now- they’re the plant that keeps on giving!!

In the Process of Purchasing some timers for the Garden Beds too- this will make it easier for someone to turn them on (knowing they don’t have to commit to standing there whilst the Garden gets a drink!!)
Enjoy this Sunshine and if Betting is your thing- Hope you pick a Winner tomorrow at the Melbourne Cup!!
