A double dose of …though I grew up and am a long suffering Cubs fan, I also vividly remember watching Ken Griffey Jr. with the and was an instant fan. And on this day in 1990 he and his dad hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning against the Angels. How can you not be romantic about baseball?
In 1985 an almost 1-year old boy was poopin’ in his Huggies, 36 years later would create a silly podcast that looks back and celebrates all things over nearly 4 decades. Also, on this day in 1985 the Golden Girls debuted on NBC. Where my Golden Girls fans at? Share your favorite moments from the show in the comments!
Happy Friday! Here’s some more bonus content with my quick under 10 minute review of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings! Apologies in advance, I’ve never met a movie title or name I couldn’t mispronounce 🤦🏻♂️

The Night House stands tall as one of the best ghostly psychological horror films of the year with some tremendous work from Rebecca Hall, a chilling atmosphere crafted by David Bruckner and some powerful themes revolving around depression and su***de.
It falters a bit with some inconsistent rules regarding its supernatural boogeyman which bleed into the finale, but overall it’s a small gripe considering how well executed everything else in this movie is. See it if you can!
The time is finally upon us friends. Dadstalgia Episode 1 - Jonesin’ for Dunkaroos is up and ready for your listening pleasure! Plus, be on the lookout for a bonus episode later this week featuring some of my friends chatting about their childhood favorites.

You can help get the show out to the masses spreading the word far and wide by sharing the trailer and episodes when they start to drop into your feeds!
Podcast trailer WILL drop tomorrow! In the meantime, Free Guy is complete unfiltered joy. A hilarious and heartfelt video game adventure that is a little long in the tooth and a bit on the nose at times, but the always charming Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer deliver wonderful turns amongst the visual chaos.
A little somethin to make you feel old today. 3 of my favorites growing up turn 30!
Happy Monday! To start off the week I present you with what is going to be Dadstalgia’s opening theme when we “hopefully” go live later this month!
Let me know what you think!
James Gunn’s The Su***de Squad is a vast improvement on the 2016 misfire…bringing a plethora of irreverent humor and a surprising amount of heart to these rough-around-the-edges characters. Still the movie drags a bit in the middle, Harley Quinn seems like an afterthought, Starro is criminally underused and ultimately the movie feels like it could have used some tightening to address these shortcomings.
Final verdict is that this is still a fun night out or in with the movies and a major step in the right direction for this particular DC franchise.
Hoping to put out a couple teases this week so stay tuned! In the mean time, caught The Green Knight which is an extremely dense Arthurian tale about honor and courage that’s beautifully filmed and extremely rewarding for those who are patient enough to unpack its themes through the deliberately slow pace.
M. Night Shyamalan’s OLD has an old school sci-if thriller vibe ripe with interesting ideas wrapped in an appetizing concept that’s unfortunately mired by some pretty shaky dialogue, baffling directing choices and a tone that’s difficult to nail down. Still, this is the kind of arguably bad movie I’m happy to get behind simply because it’s silly yet fun.
**** Please ignore the Looney Tunes misspelling in the image 🤦🏻****
While I continue to tinker with the new show’s format/music and more let’s keep the movie reactions going starting with, Space Jam: A New Legacy! A movie sorely lacking a discernible identity of its own and instead feels beholden to all at once appease those with nostalgia for the original and be a silly, modern kids film. It’s got style to spare that sometimes borders on excess, but a few solid jokes, uproarious cameo and the always welcome Looney Tunes presence helps keep it from sinking from an abysmal screenplay, a sleepwalking King James and excessive runtime.
For the rankings I am steering away from the normal star rankings or grades and ranking movies in one of the following 90’s slang tiers from “best” to “worst”:
• All That and a Bag of Chips
• Da Bomb
• Aiight
• Buzz Kill
• Brutal
What did you think of the new Space Jam?
As teased a little while back, some changes are officially taking shape. The CinePub Podcast is transforming into Dadstalgia and adopting a new format.
