What an awesome way to end the school year with these soon to be second graders! Today we talked about change.
We talked about the change we were all have been going through in our personal lives. Answers included going to a new grade level, attending a new school, graduating, moving to a new state, and going from in person school to online school. 2020/2021 has been the year of change and has taught us that the adversity we face and the resilience we respond with has the power to shape our lives. With each new challenge, we are given the opportunity to persevere, learn and grow into stronger, more compassionate and grateful humans! I have always loved volunteering with the Special Olympics. The vision of the Special Olympics is an inclusive world created by the power of sport. I am so happy that events will begin again for these wonderful athletes. For events to occur fundraising is needed.

This week from June 7th to 12th I am joining thousands of members of Law Enforcement and the community to walk, run, and bike 22,000 miles across the state in celebration of the Special Olympics Virginia Summer Series. Would you consider donating to my fundraiser.

The Miles for Mental Health 5k is an effort to help us unite, regardless of how much physical space is between us and to encourage others and support mental health awareness. It's also to promote a healthy lifestyle which includes making our personal wellness a priority.

Two weeks ago was our churches homeless shelter week. Unfortunately we could not house and feed the homeless due to Covid 19 restrictions. Fortunately federal and state funds have allowed for the homeless to find shelter in our unoccupied hotels. My church, CCUMC however feed and provided home cooked meals throughout our week. I was able to help with the collection and packages of bags of food to keep them fed throughout the week. Check up on your local churches to see if they’re doing any food pantry’s so you can contribute and give back to those who need it most!

I had the opportunity to donate an Italian feast from Franco’s By the Bay to all doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists at Sentara Princess Anne ICU/5B covid units.
