The EASIEST Chicken Sweet & Sour recipe in 15 MINUTES!
• INGREDIENTS:
• Sauce
1 cup water (250ml)
¼ cup white sugar (50g )
2½ tablespoons vinegar (40ml)
2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (30ml)
3 tablespoons ketchup (60g)
1 teaspoon garlic finely minced (1 clove ~3g)
2 tablespoons cold water (30ml)
1 tablespoon cornstarch (7.5g)
• Chicken
1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts (~500g)
3 tablespoons cornstarch (22.5g)
Salt / Pepper to taste (careful with the salt if you’re using regular soy sauce)
3 tablespoons canola oil (~44ml)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (9g)
• RECIPE:
• Sauce
1. Add water, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, ketchup and garlic to a medium saucepan
2. Whisk to combine and bring to a boil over medium-high heat
3. In a small bowl, mix cold water and starch
4. In the saucepan when everything dissolves, reduce heat to low, and add the water and cornstarch mixture
5. Stir continuously until sauce is thickened
• Chicken
1. Cut chicken into 1-inch cubes
2. Add chicken cubes, cornstarch , salt and pepper to a mixing bowl, stir until chicken is evenly coated
3. To a large skillet, add the oil, then add the chicken when oil is hot, and cook for 5 minutes over medium-high heat (~2 mins on each side)
4. After chicken has cooked through, reduce heat to low, and add the sauce
5. Leave to simmer for 2 minutes
6. Garnish with some sesame seeds and serve immediately
You can serve it with white rice / brown rice / or sautéed broccoli.
