Vicki Ryan - Labor for Northgate
Labor candidate for the Brisbane City Council ward of Northgate. Standing up for our Suburbs.
We made it! π₯³ The kids are back to school this week and while I have been enjoying no lunch boxes π₯ͺπand no missing school shoes π or hat π§’ as we try to run out the door, it will be nice to get back to a routine!
Thinking of all the parents with a Preppie starting for the first time or a Year 12 student starting for the last time, it is okay to feel all the emotions! π₯Ή
It's going to be another hot day today - please remember to stay hydrated!
βοΈ Hello Nundah, great to chat with you this afternoon! I also look forward to seeing you all tomorrow at my community BBQ. 11am at Jack Murray Place corner of Duke and Jenner Streets.

Thanks for your support this morning Nundah! π Lots of conversations around mowing, footpaths and potholes. All of which could be impacted by the $400 million being cut from the budget by the current LNP council. βοΈ
York Street Espresso Bar, thanks for my post street stall caffeine hit! βοΈ
I am down at Nundah train station this morning, come and say hi π π
Georgie's Bar will be open again from tomorrow - good to have you back Sam!
Welcome to 4014 Legally Pink Cafe! It was great to meet Nikolina and Adam today and check out the new coffee shop as part of their other business Tully Law. Thanks for giving me a tour, and it's great to see the transformation inside!
I know a few local clubs that would benefit from women's change facilities! ππ
ANNOUNCED: Labor will scrap the LNP's internal Olympics committee, which sees the people of Brisbane paying for overseas trips, perks and salary bonuses for LNP politicians.
Tracey Price for Lord Mayor and our Brisbane Labor team will redirect the $250,000 per year into local sports clubs with a focus on women's facilities.
The Lodge Youth Support Service Inc are a fantastic group of people doing truly amazing things. Please come down to Bunnings Virginia today and buy a sausage sizzle (or 5!) π
Hitting the streets of Kedron and Wavell Heights this morning, thanks team π
This mornings doorknock in Kedron brought you by - the mozzies were carrying us away!
Locals said this is the worst the mosquitoes have been and worried they are only going to get worse with the LNP Council $400 million budget cuts. βοΈ
Thanks Retroespresso for the fantastic coffee!

Rain drops and dodgy footpaths galore in Banyo this afternoon. I was talking with locals and their concerns about traffic congestion on Elliott Road including pedestrian and cyclist safety. π²πΆββοΈ
If you see me out and about, I'd love for you to stop and say hi π
$400 Million is being cut from the current budget by the LNP Lord Mayor. What could this look like for the Northgate Ward?
π overgrown grass in parks
π¦ even more mozzies
π« broken playground equipment
π longer delays in potholes being fixed
β οΈ footpaths not maintained, becoming a hazard
Our suburbs, and us as residents, deserve better. We are continuing to pay more but get less and it's time for that to change. Brisbane Labor
π’ Mozzie spraying update π¦
Out and about in Wavell Heights today. Locals mentioned their concerns about the current condition of Keith Boden Wetlands. Something that has been raised with the Councillor for years.
Keith was a long term local who cherished and helped look after these wetlands. A great place for families to picnic or spend time outdoors. It is so disappointing that since his passing many years ago, maintenance has been neglected by council. Not to mention the mozzies!
Another case of this tired LNP council only focussing on the inner city and not fighting for locals out in the suburbs. You deserve better and it's time for this to change.
It's time for you to have a Councillor that listens and cares, a Councillor that responds and keeps you updated, a Councillor that represents you and fights for you in City Hall.
It's time for this change and on March 16, with your support, I will be that person for you.

Happy Birthday Daniel ππ
Did you hear?? Local Northgate band Vinted Vineer came in 9th in the recent 4ZZZ Hottest 100! Congratulations and well done guys!
I am so thankful for my amazing team of volunteers! Want to join them (and me) in the fight to win back Northgate Ward? Find out how: https://queenslandlabor.org/vicki-ryan/
Wow, have I have missed this place over the Christmas break! It's good to be back Your Fit!! πͺ
π£ INCREASED FLIGHT ACTIVITY! βοΈ
Like me, you may have noticed an increase in flights over the skies of our suburbs yesterday.
It has been reported that due to the weather and storms that were sitting to the south of the airport, Brisbane Air Traffic Control was allowing flights to take a different path to avoid the conditions.
This should mean that we will not be seeing planes taking this route as a regular measure and only when circumstances dictate.
Letβs see what today brings.π€
Rain rain go away, we want to watch Brisbane Heat play!! π§βοΈπ
It was a big 2023, but I am only just getting started!
I look forward to continuing to fight for Northgate Ward and, with your support in March, win the election to be your representative in council.
Let's do this!

Happy New Year!

MOSQUITO SPRAYING HAPPENING TODAY
The helicopter will be starting over Bald Hills, move over Brighton and Boondall, then we should see it over Nudgee Beach and the airport before heading further south. The helicopter spraying will target saltmarsh mosquitoes that have hatched following the recent weather.
This spray specifically targets mosquito larvae and doesnβt affect other insects and wildlife.
Thank you Councillor Jared Cassidy for keeping us updated.

Following the storms, if you've got green waste like tree branches you need to get rid of, you can drop it at Nudgee tip for free until NYE
