A recent comment from a happy customer, "We love our tinkering boxes from Sarah! They are filled with great materials that can be used in a variety of ways, and compliment the things we already have at home to make the fun last longer. The weekly online meetings are great and my quiet, mostly non-participating child comes out with a firestorm of ideas when it's over and he tinkers for hours!! I love how the kids can gain inspiration from one another and share the trials and tribulations of tinkering. It's just FUN!"

What is Tinkering?

It’s science in a party atmosphere.

Our Tinkering programs are a kids' creative, collaborative-invention group. The projects are a mixture of science, engineering and art. We specialize in providing opportunities to try new things, mess up, share ideas, learn new skills and try again. I considered calling these programs “Failure School” - but that requires a lot of explaining.

I’ve designed Tinkering Projects that focus on learning new skills; exploring science and engineering concepts; and developing resiliency. The Tinkering ethic also puts focus on re-purposing items from recycling bins and generally engaging in fun and whimsy.

Another part of the Tinkerers Creed is written on the wall in my workshop, “Be Safe, Have Fun, Clean up or Get out.”
