I’m gonna be for real H O N E S T ❗️
I used to really struggle with patience. I was UBER eager to have results and FAST (from like, CHILDHOOD 🎀) and I never wanted to wait for very long. So as you can imagine (or RELATE), I wasn’t too keen on “growing” my hair. Let me explain: see, I wanted long HAIR, but I didn’t want it to take a long TIME. So I did all the things I knew to do- avoid heat, protective style, co-wash, cool rinse, L.O.C. Method- to retain every inch of length I gained. I’d notice growth here and there monthly but never enough for me to wear it straightened for very long, since it wasn’t yet at “The Goal Length.” In the meantime…life was happening outside of my hair- prayers, little progress..leaps and then layovers 🤦🏽♀️ and with introspection I noticed…my attitude toward my hair was the same attitude I had toward life: impatient and ungrateful 😩
Then one day I heard Him say “Let it grow.” He showed me ALL of the things I’d repeated a prayer for (out of sheer impatience, not fervency), amongst many other things I’d acted in aggression to achieve that needn’t such desperate pursuit.
Let it grow.
Be happy if he took the trash before work.
Get excited when you see an inch!
God does!!

Here’s something I learned a long time ago that TRULY changed the game for me:
When you moisturize your hair, start from the bottom. Not just because it’s “tHe oLDeSt pArT oF yOuR hAiR…” yeah YouTube WE KNOW 🤣- but because your hair is like a flower. Truly, it has a core and absorbs nutrients like a straw. This can even be tested on straightened hair. Get a little bit of your favorite hair cream or oil and rub it in the palm of your hand. On freshly pressed hair simply * T A P * your palm to the ends of your strands. Within a week you should see your hair shine and even feel more moisturized just from that one * T A P *. Try it! Don’t do too much though, we don’t want greasy hair on a fresh press! Lol!

Don’t be discouraged- this is all due to perspective.
With patterned hair, the overall appearance is directly influenced by the shape of the strands. Curly patterns tend to form a circular shape around the crown because well, curls are circles, lol! Pictures are important to note how far you’ve come because honestly, one of the hardest things to do is WATCH a garden grow in impatience.

You wanna know something interesting?
Not that long ago, I cut off 8 eight inches because of how severely damaged it was following a cheap salon visit.
For our engagement photos, my husband and I took pictures by a waterfall. So I got my hair pressed (at a super cheap salon) and unlike magic, my hair slowly reverted at the shoot, so I thought, “No heat damage, I’ll go back for sure!”
MAN! What did say?
“WRONG ROAD….WRONNNNG ROAD!”
Long story longer, I went back and my hair was the straightest I had ever seen it be! Like TERRIBLY straight. 2 months later, I got one last press for our wedding and it took my real stylist hardly ANY time to finish. I knew something was wrong. After I washed my hair my husband said “Baby what happened to your hair? Y’all, my hair was stringy like Sid from Hey Arnold. Within the coming weeks it shed like crazy. We discovered that not only had I suffered heat damage, but relaxer had been covertly used on me in the conditioner at that cheap salon. I was devastated but determined to nurse my hair back to health!
