𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗮 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗱 🥈🇱🇰
We are excited to announce that Luchitha Disal Pathirana of Elizabeth Moir Senior School has won a Silver Medal at the recently concluded International Economics Olympiad - IEO 2023 hosted by the University of Thessaly in Volos, Greece. This is the first time a student representing Sri Lanka won a Silver Medal at this prestigious event.
The IEO is an annual competition for high school students in the field of economics. The competition, which is one of the International Science Olympiad (ISO)s, is designed to stimulate creative problem-solving skills among students interested in Economics, Business, and Finance. The 2023 edition of the competition saw the participation of 221 talented students representing 48 countries.
A highly decorated student, Luchitha has now participated in the IEO four times, having represented Team Sri Lanka since the country first started competing in 2020. In his four participations, Luchitha has won one Silver Medal 🥈 and two Bronze Medals 🥉, including the joint-first Bronze Medal for Sri Lanka back in 2021.
The team was selected through the Sri Lanka Economics and Finance Olympiad - SLEFO, the national selection test for the IEO consisting of two rigorous rounds of examinations conducted nationwide. The top-ranking five students represented the country at the IEO 2023, led by Team Leaders Shenal Kotuwewatta and Dasun Thrimawithana.
We congratulate Luchitha on his remarkable achievement and wish him good luck in his academic career.

These talented students will be led by Team Leaders Shenal Kotuwewatta and Dasun Thrimawithana.
The team members were selected through two rigorous rounds of examinations conducted nationwide. We wish them good luck and hope they will make the country proud! ❤️

Congratulations to Team Sri Lanka! 🇱🇰
In the recently concluded International Economics Olympiad - IEO 2021, Sri Lanka managed to win TWO bronze medals 🥉 🥉
The bronze medalists are
