San Antonio, TX - 5-10YO spayed female husky mix, 80lbs, HW+

Aspen is very friendly, loves everyone, will bark at strangers coming into the house, but will go meet them without aggression. She likes to be close to her people. She knows to go in her kennel and go outside when we point and say “Go”. She gets along with other dogs, cats and children.

Vetting status: Spayed, microchipped, Needs shots, heartworm positive. Her overall health is good, but she has chronic skin issues. She needs special food and either Apoquel or Cytopoint every month, plus antifungal medications and a weekly medicated bath.

Owner can no longer afford the medication and vet bills for her upkeep, as well as have the time to spend with her to help her condition (medicated baths, etc)

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Upon approach Taz was in his den. The assessor took off the privacy blocker and proceeded to soft-talk and slow-blink before providing treats. Taz lip-licked. The assessor used the scratch tool to touch his cheeks, head & back while he remained in the den. Taz's eyes dilated, he continued to lip-lick, moved as far back as he could and let out a low growl. Pickup was not attempted due to high FAS. Taz maintained his position after the assessor ended the interaction lip-licking, dilated eyes and low growling.

Taz is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He is very apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, he may attempt to flee and avoid human contact. It is difficult to predict if he will respond to socialization but we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.

* PLEASE NOTE * KITTENS under the age of 8 weeks or weighing 2 pounds or less CAN ONLY be PULLED by a RESCUE!!!! IF INTERESTED, PLEASE contact a RESCUE ASAP!!!

09/12/23 17:02 Pt is extremely depressed, not moving much in bucket. Severe ocular discharge and clear nasal discharge. AMH requested to administer 1L of LRS SQ and administer cerenia

Exam Vet 09/13: on examination, mm are injected, tacky. pulses are fair and synchronous, heart auscults mildly tachycardic. p is extremely weak and ataxic. abdomen somewhat "doughy"

bloodwork reveals hyperglycemia and mild azotemia with an almost fixed specific gravity. other derrangements coulde be consistent with mild dehydration and inlflammation. mild ALT elevation.

placed Cath and started on NSR+5ml (10meq) KCL/L @ 110ml/h and 20mg maropitant IV. clavamox oral.

ddx includes, interstitial/glomerular nephritis (incl Lepto), neoplastic/paraneoplastic disease, toxicity including EG, DM unlikely and hyperglycemia likely stress related.

Violeta 175145 is a 6-year old, 28-pound pocket-sized Belgian Malinois mix who arrived at the shelter as a stray in the month of May. She gave birth there, her puppies were adopted. It was recently noticed she has lumps around her neck, particularly in the areas of her lymph nodes and inguinal region. She has also been panting a lot and radiographs and blood work were done, and according to the relief vet, her condition carries a very poor prognosis and she needs the expertise of a veterinarian who can provide specialized care. This precious girl and her sibling male A611724 were picked up at Bear Creek Park located in 77084, known as a "common dumping ground" on August 2,2023. Thankfully they were confined as they were very friendly, both are now at this shelter where this breed soooo common!! 🙄. They are both unaltered so for that reason cannot be together in same kennel, as I said, that park has bad reputation, bad humans dump their dogs & cats there, they both maybe used for breeding (as you know the flea markets are their places for see illegally).
