🌴 Meet Joshua Wilson 🌴

Born in Houston, TX in 2002, Joshua is no stranger to the stage having spent his early years performing lead roles in numerous school plays.

Joshua’s young voice is heard at the end of the 2016 Grammy-nominated song, ‘Worth Fighting For’. He performed alongside his father, multi-award-winning artist, Brian Courtney Wilson on the televised 46th Annual GMA Dove Awards.

In 2018, Joshua performed a high-energy, show-stealing rendition of ‘A Great Work’ bringing everyone to their feet at The Kingdom Guys Rock Awards. It was apparent the audience had not just received another singer, but a rare gift. Most recently, Joshua paid tribute to Earth Wind & Fire's longtime bassist, Verdine White at the 2019 Motif Awards in Houston, TX at the historic House of Blues singing their hit song, 'September.'

Dubbed ‘The Voice’ by his peers, Joshua is often called upon to sing and play guitar for various events citywide. He currently lends his talents as a member of USC's premier a capella group, SoCal Vocals.

Inheriting a love of music from his father, Joshua has musical ambitions of his own. He continues to brand himself as a multifaceted game-changer as he blazes his own trail with his music and ministry efforts. Joshua is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Popular Music at The University of Southern California.

Welcome USC Londoners!

The Accent welcome dinner is booked for tonight Thursday night, rather than Friday. It is near your ACCENT housing, so not far to travel with jet-lag.

Here are today and tomorrow's details, read carefully!

My Accent colleague Robbie who will be the main contact for you whilst in London. He is arranging the transit passes for the group and will be at the housing on Thursday to check the students in as they arrive. Tonight, Thursday Robbie and ACCENT have arrange a Welcome meal! Robbie has booked a pub for the welcome meal, the Wilmington, for 6:30pm on Thursday 19th. He’ll meet the students at the housing at 6:10pm and walk over with them to the pub, join you all for dinner and pick up the tab. Then on Friday morning he’ll meet students outside their housing at 10:30am, walk them to Accent for Orientation at 11am, followed by a local area walk and free time for lunch. Prof. Smith will then do a special Lecture and schedule review at ACCENT classrooms, and students can go to ICMP and rehearse or relax and get organized.

Just a reminder that the students and John can check-in directly at Crawford House, Crawford Passage, London, EC1R3DP, so they should head straight there from the airport. If there is a turnaround day with students checking out that morning, your check-in will not be until 2pm to allow time for cleaning and maintenance checks. Luggage can be left until the rooms are ready.

Look forward to seeing you in London soon!

Matt - ACCENT Director

🌿 Meet Nischal Chaubey 🌿

From the early age of 12, Nischal picked up the guitar and since then, there was no looking back.

A free spirit at learning the instrument, Nischal utilized his lack of formal education with the instrument by capitalizing on his freedom and focusing on creativity more than rigid learning.

Since then, he has been part of an indie band based out of Mumbai called Ferry Tales, which has received critical acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone India and Vh1.

After managing the press release of his band's latest EP, "Long Time, No Sea", Nischal moved to London, UK to pursue his Masters in Popular Music Performance at the ICMP. He is currently involved in multiple projects within and outside of the music school environment.

Now a music educator for the past 2 years, Nischal has been utilizing his time in the pandemic, helping people enjoy an artform to alleviate stress and to bring back the small joys of life.

Teaching/learning moment...

09/05/2022

The original Slaughtered Lamb was a pub in a small town just north of London, cursed with the bloodline of the Werewolf. The inhabitants of East Proctor would sacrifice a lamb of their flock and smear the blood over the doors as part of a ritual to ward off the evil spirit of the Werewolf. https://www.slaughteredlambpub.com/history.html #:~:text=The%20original%20Slaughtered%20Lamb%20was,evil%20spirit%20of%20the%20Werewolf.
