👩‍🎓I completed my bachelors degree in nutrition science and exercise science at GWU!

🥦After graduating, I completed my certification as a nutrition coach through NCI (Nutrition Coaching Institute).

Health and nutrition are big passions of mine! I love coaching anyone and everyone in reaching their individual nutrition and/or fitness goals, but especially those who don’t know where to start or feel like they have a long ways to go. I truly believe it’s all about balance and breaking big goals down into small, manageable ones to keep you feeling motivated and accomplished!

🏋️‍♀️When I’m not nutrition coaching, you’ll find me coaching CrossFit at CrossFit DC! My CrossFit journey began all the way back in 2013, and over the years it has greatly shaped my view on nutrition, exercise, wellness, and body positivity.

- On the weekends I love exploring new coffee shops in DC and learning how to crochet! (It’s my new hobby obsession)
- I minored in Chinese in college and speak some Mandarin!

Do you know Coach Allie? Fun facts ⬇️

1. My workout routine these days consists of a little weightlifting, a lot of metabolic conditioning, and a sprinkle of hot yoga.
2. Breakfast is my favorite meal - it gets me out of bed and sets the tone of my day.
3. I have consumed too many audiobooks to count. I love listening to stories, real or fiction. I think that is part of the draw to working with people, I love hearing their stories.
4. Speaking of stories, I love historic ghost stories. Dinner and a ghost tour is my favorite date night!
5. Peanut butter M&M's are the best M&M's... don't @ me.
6. Dogs with human names are my favorite. I have a lab named Richard and a lab mix named Laurel.
7. I truly believe there is no "one size fits all" when it comes to fitness or nutrition. My job consists mostly of taking in all the unique variables of an individual and providing a specific program that takes them all into account.
8. I prefer pencil and paper over digital writing. I hand-write client programs first and then transfer them to my computer.

Allie brings over a decade of coaching and programming knowledge to the team. Her personal training, yoga and CrossFit coaching experience is built on a Masters in Exercise Science, EMT certification and Precision Nutrition (Pn1) certification.

She knows how to help people reach their body composition, health, and fitness goals and brings to the team a deep understanding of the importance of fueling for your body’s needs.

SUMMER BREAKFAST RECIPE

Because summer ☀️ isn’t over 🙂

Breakfast: Greek Yogurt Parfait
¾ Cup Plain Greek Yogurt
½ tsp vanilla
1-2 packets of your favorite sweetener (we love stevia!) or 1 tsp honey/agave
½ cup blueberries and strawberries
¼ cup of granola
2 tbsp of your favorite nut butter
Mix all ingredients (minus nut butter) together and then top with nut butter!

📝: single serving versions but multiple it by 4-6 to prep for the week.

How do you come back from a weekend full of delicious food and sweet treats that were out of your norm?

Hint: It’s not the answer you think.

Part of cultivating a healthy relationship with food is understanding that everyday does not need to be exactly the same to find success. That an ice cream is just an ice cream cone. There’s no cycle of enjoyment and punishment.

You come back from a few days without routine by preparing yourself for a week filled with your delicious staple foods. Making plans to move your body. Grabbing your favorite water bottle to hydrate. And keep on with your life!! That’s it. 😊

The weather is getting warmer and things just seem a little bit happier☀️ However, there’s one thing we see too often this time of year. The dreaded pursuit of the perfect “Summer Body.”

We are here to remind you that your perfect summer body is the body you are already in! All that to say, we’ve put together “5 Things that will get you ready for summer that have nothing to do with weight loss!”

☀️Schedule some recharge days! Work can leave us feeling stressed and cooped up inside away from the sunshine. Put a few days on the calendar to turn your brain off, take some time outside and relax.

☀️Fire up that grill! We all know the difference a grill can make to a delicious pan of veggies or awesome burger. Imagine a healthy fuel plate straight from the grill… Mmmmm!

☀️Get outside! Soak up that vitamin D and plan some workouts in the sunshine with friends.

☀️Up your water intake! You’ve heard us say it before but the season change will have your body craving more H2O. Add in some delicious flavor packets or a squeeze of lemon to keep things interesting.

☀️Schedule an evening walk! We love to find new ways to wind down and help us relax after a long day. This can lead right into a great bedtime routine and have you sleeping soundly.

We met a lot of Caretaker Fuel Types since the pandemic and invested in understanding their strengths and weaknesses.

We’ve learned that it is incredibly difficult to make nutrition changes to your lifestyle when you worry there will be a compound negative effect on the children or elders who depend on you to survive.

Let us take the guess work out of the equation. Let us decrease some of those fears and anxieties. We’ve built the roadmap and we have developed the tool box for the job.

You’ll hear us say this a million times: Nutrition is SO much more than the actual food you eat. Mindfulness during your meals helps build a strong sense of hunger/satiated cues! Ask yourself these questions during a meal today to check your attention while eating:

- When I’m eating, what has my attention? Could I put my phone down (or turn off the TV or computer) and focus 100% on who I’m with?

- How much time do I give myself to eat? If I feel rushed, what could I do to slow it down?

- How do I feel right after I eat? If it isn’t a good feeling, what’s in my control to change it?

We use fuel types as a way to not only identify the best path forward for your lifestyle but also to reframe many of the things in your lifestyle you may view as limiting, as a strength.

For our Data Wizards, focusing solely on numbers as an indicator of progress can become frustrating. So we expand this out a bit to use numbers and habits as indicators of patterns and your body’s response to different stimuli. We work over time to understand things like:

✔️How does your weight change after drinking alcohol the day before?
✔️Does a meal out impact your sleep? If so, for how long?
✔️How many recovery days are optimal for your hunger markers?
✔️Is your bodyweight sensitive to how much water you are drinking?

These questions just scratch the surface of what we can work to understand! Remember… numbers are our friend when used wisely. 💙

The Generalist Fuel Type might not want or need this kind of support at first, but they eventually know they need it. In some cases, Generalists have always leveraged gym time or great genes to achieve body composition results. Nutrition failed to be a tool worth sharpening.

Generalists avoid asking for help until that 💡 moment occurs and it’s apparent professional coaching is the only way.

Here's something we remind our Transition Fuel Types, but it really applies to all of us: ✨You are allowed to ask for help and not feel bad about it.

There's a common misconception that asking for help is a sign of weakness, immaturity, or that you're lacking in some way. IT'S NOT!

It's the complete opposite. Asking for help is your ability to recognize that the job is better done with someone else by your side. It allows for you to have a different perspective, an expert's advice, an extra set of hands and you might even achieve your goal sooner than expected. Don't shame yourself for needing help, ask for the things you need in order to be successful.

The obvious transitions are big life events, but that’s not always the case. When something (initially temporary or duration unknown) impacts you and your lifestyle, you are forced to adjust. Transitions can come in swinging so abruptly or hitting multiple elements of our lifestyle that it can quickly feel overwhelming or destructive towards your health and fitness plan.

Transitions might surprise us WHEN they show up, but we are all guaranteed to experience them.

The Traveler Fuel type clients are often so focused on what they cannot do or what is not in their control because of their traveler lifestyle that they miss the opportunity to make changes where they can.

Just because you can’t do all the nutrition strategies of the non- traveler fuel type, doesn’t mean you’re doomed. It does mean a bit more emphasis on mindset shifting and reframing your approach to travels.

✨We don’t deliver short term diets. We deliver nutrition plans shaped for your “lane” (read: the realities and context of your lifestyle)

The Traveler is one of our O.G. Fuel types because we’ve been there… traveling a ton (professionally and personally!) and feeling it clash with what the fitness industry says you need to do to be successful. *Insert massive frustration here.* 😫

We developed the Fuel Type methodology because we weren’t satisfied with simply focusing on what to eat and what not to eat to reach your goals. We believe clients need to understand and accept the realities of their “lane” (read: context of lifestyle that isn’t alterable). That’s why we coach your mindset around your fuel type so that your expectations and goals are true to you.

If you’re always on the go, then you cannot be coached to meal prep every week. If you sleep in hotels more than your own bed, then sleep routine needs extra focus. Whether you travel for work or pleasure (or both), your pathway to success must include a mindset shift in a way that the generic nutrition industry cannot comprehend.

You feel like you’re doing everything right, but the habits don’t seem to “stick” longer than a few days or weeks. The start and stop diet life gets frustrating!

We can all identify elements of our lives where we show up and execute on a consistent basis, whether it’s for a job, sport, team, friend, relationship.

Why can’t the same accountability simply be applied to nutrition changes or our health? We wish it was that easy.

Your accountability buddy (whomever or whatever it may be) for your health or the next version of your body composition might be waiting to be unlocked. As your coach, it’s our job to dig in with you and figure it out.
