What does the new year hold for you? Are you Ready??
There is more than one way you can use essential oils:
1. Aromatherapy:
I love using aromatherapy. This involves smelling essential oils to improve your well-being and/or health. It can help change your mood. As you breathe in the oil’s aroma in it can stimulate your central nervous system, triggering an emotional response. It can also reduce anxiety and stress quickly.
There is more than one aromatherapy method:
a.) Breathe In:
Take in deep breaths of the aroma after opening the bottle. This is one of my favorites.
I like to keep peppermint oil on my desk for a quick pick me up or relax and open and help my breathing. I also used this when I had covid to relieve my congestion (peppermint and eucalyptus oils).
b.) Diffuse:
Mix essential oils and water in an essential oil diffuser and turn on the wonderful aroma. (A diffuser is a device that disperses the oil's aroma around the room so you
can breathe them in. Follow your diffuser’s directions for the right oil-to-water ratio)
c.) Steam inhalation:
Put a few drops of essential oil in a bowl of hot water. Put your head over the bowl, a towel over your head and breathe in the steam. This was my mother’s favorite when
I was a kid to clear out my congestion with a cold or flu.
2) Ingestion
Some people take essential oils orally in teas, supplements or even via a drop or two on their tongue. Please Please! be careful. I love to put peppermint or eucalyptus under my tongue, but it is considered a “hot” oil and burns most people. Start with dilution and check with someone who is trained before taking internally.
3) Topical application
You can also gain great benefits by applying essential oils to your skin, where it’s absorbed directly into your body. I use this method but again, be very careful directly applying essential oils to your skin without diluting them. “With few exceptions, it’s best to dilute the essential oil with a carrier oil, such as coconut or jojoba oil, to avoid skin irritation,”. Some people put their oils into a rollerball bottle for easier application.

What are essential oils?
Sure, everyone knows essential oils smell great but is that all they do?
The ancient ones say no! they also can reduce stress, inflammation, treat infections, and help you sleep just to name a few.
But exactly what are essential oils….they are concentrated extractions from plants. A process called distillation turns the “essence” of a plant into a liquefied form for recreational and medicinal uses.
There are a wide variety of essential oils. Some have a very pleasing aroma. Others claim to have powerful healing properties and some have side effects you must be aware of.
