Thankyou everyone for your patience with us last week. We had a much-needed 6 days away with our old girl Mildred, throwing ourselves into some of our hobbies, enjoying farm life and exploring the bush around us before returning to semester 2 and work commitments for the rest of the year.

We have availability from now until Christmas, excluding August 31 to September 8, and we also have room on our books for some new clients!

We hope you’ve all been keeping well and warm!
Jaz and Amelia xoxo

Happy Sunday, lovely Pooper Scoopers Community!

Our apologies for not having posted this sooner, but we’ve taken a break and gone camping! We’d like to ask that you please bear with us till Thursday to get back to your messages so that we can maintain a healthy distance from our work lives whilst we’re away.

If you need urgent care, please start your messaged to us with URGENT and we’ll get back to you ASAP. We have had one client needing to leave town in a hurry this weekend and we managed to find them alternative care!

We thank you for your understanding and hope you’re all keeping warm!

Last month, we had to say goodbye to one of our most regular clients’ pets; Harvey.

Harvey was adopted from Cat Haven 7 years ago and has enjoyed a very spoilt and very loved life with his parents ever since. Being insulin-dependent we would visit Harvey twice daily, often for weeks at a time. It is unlikely that we’ve spent more time with any other petsitting friend than we have with Harvey, and we’ve loved every minute of being his “cool holiday aunties”.

We have a never-ending list of things that we will miss about Harvey, so here are some of our favourites. We will miss being uniquely yelled at upon entry with a “mow-WOW”. We will miss him trying to steal our fish and chips, curry, thai and burgers. We will miss Netflix, treats and chill evenings cuddling on the couch with him. We will miss him gaslighting us into giving him more treats or letting him drink from the bathroom tap. We will miss early morning coffee time and evening board game time with him. We will miss dancing to Taylor Swift around the lounge room with him judging us from his favourite bed. We will miss playing with him and all of his kisses and cuddles.

Rosie and Nick, we hope you’re able to heal now that you have him home with you. Thankyou for entrusting us with his care in life and after. His big personality and love for us will always hold a special place in our hearts.

We love you, Harvey!
Jaz & Amelia xoxo

Congratulations TREVOR for winning our Cat Enrichment Hamper at Cat Haven’s Cat Containment Information Day.
Thankyou to everyone that purchased a raffle ticket; we raised $125 for Cat Haven WA as a result!

We still have an hour left at the Swan Settlers Market for Cat Haven WA’s Cat Containment Information Day. Come chat to us about our services and the Community Blood Bank at The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University, cuddle some kittens, browse the stalls and grab some goodies for your cats!

Since the first 5 months of our 2024 were crazily busy, we've looked ahead at our calendar and allotted ourselves some time off around existing bookings.

We still have plenty of availability for May, June and July if you're looking for a winter getaway like us and we're also now accepting bookings for August and September.

Thanks,
Jaz & Amelia xoxo

We will be attending this awesome upcoming event as stall holders! We’d love to see you there at the Swan Settlers Markets on Sunday the 16th of June.

❤️🐾Cat Haven’s Enclosure Information Day🐾❤️

We are looking for some special businesses to team up with us for our Enclosure Information Day in June.

We will be hosting a day all about enclosures, the importance of them and are looking for other cat related businesses to join us.

Do you know of any reputable businesses in Perth that supply the following?

🐾Pet doors and installation
🐾Pet transport services
🐾Wildlife rescues to talk about the importance of keeping cats contained
🐾A local ranger in WA
🐾A mobile vet

We would love to hear from them, please email us at [email protected] if you are interested in coming along to promote your services.

Pictured are old friends Umbrella and Romeo, and new friends Snek, Mackerel, Meeps, Howl and Frankie. We've loved hanging out with them all over the last 10 days!

We are still taking bookings for this month with availability throughout March, including over the Easter long weekend.

🎁 THANKYOU 🎁

With such amazing support from our community in just 5 and a half months of operation, we were delighted to be able to give back to two local charities that we and so many of our clients have been lucky enough to find their beloved pets through.

With Dogs' Refuge Home WA INC taking in over 1000 dogs this year and Cat Haven WA over 8000 cats, we feel that it is our duty as animal lovers profiting from pet care work to meaningfully contribute to those who need it most. This Christmas, we have donated to both of them through a Tree of Hope Appeal, by selling calendars for fundraising, donating items on their wishlist and purchasing their Christmas cards to send to our clients, family and friends.

We hope our cards made it safely to our clients of 2023 and we thank you all for supporting us and enabling us to help vulnerable animals this Christmas.

Following on from our previous post, here is a list of the 2024 dates that we anticipate to be "Peak Periods", thus requiring a 25% deposit at time of booking.

This will apply to all new bookings as of today, the 19th of December 2023 and will be pinned to the top of our page for easy referencing.

Thankyou for your understanding,
The Pooper Scoopers Team 💕

19/12/2023

Unfortunately, due to five cancellations over Christmas, we will now be bringing in a 25% deposit for bookings during peak holiday periods. As a two-women show, we can only take on a handful of jobs per day, meaning losses like this affect us financially and other potential clients miss out on utilising us.

We worked exceptionally hard to fit in so many bookings over the Christmas period, even compromising on other income opportunities and Christmas plans with our own loved ones. We appreciate that we are a valued service within the community and it was important for us to do so, but we never could have foreseen the financial impact this decision would have on us.

We understand some cancellations come with exceptional circumstances, but we consider our services to be financially accessible to our clients and we need to start covering ourselves for possible loss of income.

This post will be followed by another containing our peak period dates for 2024 to ensure transparency going forward. We thank our ongoing clients for their understanding and wish you all a safe and happy week leading up to Christmas.

Kind regards,
The Pooper Scoopers Team xoxo

Do you have a summer getaway planned or know someone who does?
Our cats’ Cancun dreams are about to be crushed because we’re staying home this holiday season, and with a number of recent cancellations we still have have capacity to book your pets in for December and January.

We hope to hear from you soon!

Dogs dogs dogs!

People often ask us- “Do you work with dogs, too?”. Well, the answer is “Yes!”, of course! Here are the dogs we’ve worked with over the last four days alone, ranging from very small to rather large!

Dog 1: 8-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier Romeo enjoying a sunset walk along the river with Amelia.
Dogs 2 & 3: 8-month-old terrier mix Bear and 13-year-old Shih Tzu x Maltese terrier Missy enjoying a sunset walk with Jaz.
Dog 4: 13-year-old Shih Tzu x Maltese Princess whilst having us around for some “calm company”.
Dog 5: 9-month-old Kelpie mix Ollie, having some play time and cuddles with Amelia in her yard.

We love being able to cater to all species. It gives us variety throughout our week and keeps us active and continually learning.

Woofs and barks,
Jaz & Amelia xoxo

Cats cats cats!

We’ve been hanging out with some familiar faces this weekend; Lia the 18-year-old ragdoll, Harvey the 14-year-old rescue DSH and Winston the 6-month-old British shorthair.

We’ve been keeping cool inside with lots of quality time together, eating treats, playing with toys and keeping up with coat maintenance.

What do you do with your pets when it’s hot? We enjoy playing board games with our clients’ animals to keep them company once they’re tired of enrichment time with us!

Stay cool!
Jaz & Amelia xoxo

Last week we had the pleasure of hanging out with these three wonderful littermates; Zazzles (champagne), Chewy (tabby & white) and Bella (grey). After their usual boarding facility ended operations and Bella developed a stress-induced illness, their parents decided to look for someone who could come to them!

This is why we love our petsitting services being predominantly home visits. It allows pets to remain in their own environment where they feel safest, leaving less room for stress and more room for maintaining comfortable routines. It also gives us the opportunity to cater to them best and get to know them even better!

We loved our 3.5 days with these guys, conducting photo shoots, giving lots of pats and teaching them to work out our treat puzzles. They even served as emotional support study buddies for us on Sunday!

Thankyou to their parents for entrusting us with their care. ❤️

Stay cool out there!
Lots of meows,
Jaz & Amelia xoxo

Happy Sunday!

We started ours off by taking Pierre for a walk before it got too warm today. With temperatures reaching 28º by 9:30am, it is necessary that we're walking our dogs as early and as late in the day as possible. This is especially important for puppies, senior dogs, obese dogs, brachycephalic dogs, dogs with coats unsuited to Australian climate and any dogs with heart issues or breathing difficulties.

We've attached a couple of our favourite infographics to help you to keep your pets safe as the weather heats up.

Happy exercising and stay cool!

Jaz & Amelia xoxo

This evening we packed up our cats and headed to a client’s house to celebrate their cat’s 12th birthday! They all had a fun couple of hours playing, sharing treats, dressing up, and snobbing the catnip tea Chrono’s mum lovingly made for the occasion.

If you’ve been following along, we have a special relationship with Chrono after rescuing him ourselves earlier this year. It was so lovely to see him be celebrated, spoilt and surrounded by feline friends and loved ones just as he deserves.

Happy Birthday, Chrono. Thanks for inviting us to your pawty!

On Monday, the Pooper Scoopers community sadly gained an angel pet. Our very first client lost her beloved Bengal, Pharaoh, of 16 years.

Pharaoh was a unique boy who loved his paddling pool, creamy treats, cat tower, soaking up the sun, and his amazing mother. Although he will be remembered for many things, we will never forget him for his big Bengal voice box and for having the softest coat in the world.

We have been so blessed to have known and loved Pharaoh, to have been with him and his Mum in his final moments on Earth and to know he had fantastic quality of life till the end. His Mum reported that his final day was filled with a big breakfast and lots of sunshine bathing in the yard.

Pharaoh leaves behind his heartbroken Mum, his dog brother Jock, his cat brother Houdini, and his snake sister Floss. We send our deepest condolences to his family and our gratitude for being trusted with his care in his golden years.

Rest in peace, Pharaoh. We will miss you.

Meet Lia!

Lia is an 18 year old (can you believe that?) lilac point ragdoll. Due to her age, we’ve been visiting her more often than we usually would other cats, with 3 or 4 visits a day to ensure she’s getting enough nutrition and staying cool and hydrated.

Did you know that it is usually preferable to feed our geriatric felines predominantly wet food? This can be due to many factors, but three big reasons can include poor dental health (completely normal at their age!), kidney care (kidneys need good hydration to do their job well) and the fact that our golden oldies can find digestion more difficult, meaning numerous smaller meals throughout the day can help to keep them regular, hydrated and better fueled.

Do you remember meeting Fly in our post yesterday? Well, we’re caring for Lia and her canary sibling because their parents are the parents and now in-laws of the couple getting married this weekend! Whether that makes Lia and Fly grandma and granddaughter or aunt and niece, we don’t know, but this weekend has felt like a family affair as a result!

Jaz has a particular soft spot for feline geriatric care, so looking after Lia has been extra special for her. We believe that caring for animals that have blessed so many humans throughout their long lives is a privilege and that they deserve gold star treatment (and more!) in their senior years after so much time serving us.

With more meows,
From Jaz and Amelia (and Lia) xoxo

Meet Fly!

We’re looking after Fly for 5 days whilst her parents get MARRIED this weekend! Fly is a gorgeous 3 year dilute calico, originally rescued from Cat Haven as a kitten. Since Thursday, we’ve enjoyed getting to know her better through lots of play, pats and fun with treats.

Isn’t there something so special about gaining the trust of a cat? With 5 on our books this weekend, we’re feeling the love.

Make sure your fur babies are being kept cool this weekend!

A big congratulations to Fly's parents, Gen and Jack. Thankyou for choosing us to care for your baby at such an important time in your lives!

Meows, meows, and more meows,
Jaz and Amelia

Our spooky season ended with some wonderful news!

With just 10 days to spare, we’ve been given a new 6 month lease. This means we can now open our books till April 2024. Plus, we still have plenty of availability over the holiday period and summer months, too!

Stay cool out there. 😎

(Lots of) treats & meows,
Jaz, Amelia, Tosca, Kit, Mildred and Rory xoxo

Happy (belated) Halloween!

Our old girl Mildred waited ever so patiently yesterday for trick-or-treaters to take her chocolate and give her pats, but for the fifth year in a row, we didn’t get a single visitor!

Did your fur children dress up? Drop us a photo below in the comments if so, and stay tuned, because we have more where this came from!

Love from Jaz, Amelia and Mildred xoxo

Public Service Announcement from your local City Council Cats!

Dog and cat registration is due TOMORROW, 31/10. Some councils will start dishing out fines by November 1st, so hop to it!

Reasons why pet registration is important:
1. Speeds up pet and owner reunion when lost.
2. Acts as another form of identification.
3. Identifies your pet as property. (Legally owned rather than a stray).

Did you know?
- Council registration tags act as a great backup for failed or migrated microchips.
- Lifetime registrations are transferable between Perth Metro councils, meaning you don’t have to pay twice or more if you move!

Love from your office cats,
Tosca, Rory & Kit

Meet Romeo, the best boy!

We were asked to help Romeo’s owners 7 weeks ago when they had a change to their work schedules. Romeo is an 8 year old American Staffordshire Terrier, and being a big and active boy, he requires two hearty walks a day. When his family can only manage one in the morning, Amelia steps in to help in the evening.

5 REASONS WHY ROMEO IS TRULY THE BEST BOY:
1. He is super photogenic.
2. He is always smiling- it is impossible to be sad in his company.
3. He has perfect leash manners! He walks like a dream on lead.
4. He isn’t fussy- he loves every treat you give him.
5. He gives the best cuddles! We rate them 10/10.

After their hour of walking, Amelia gives him his dinner and they enjoy a post-meal snuggle on the couch. Amelia and Romeo share a special bond, like two peas in a pod.

Due to reasons 1 & 2 on the list, we couldn’t choose just one photo of Romeo to share with you all. We hope his infectious smile brightens your day like it does ours.

A big thanks to Romeo’s family for entrusting us with their big love bug. Working with him has been a blessing for so many reasons!

Love from Jaz & Amelia

We just hit our first 100 likes!

We would like to say a big thanks to all of you for your support over the last 3.5 months. This journey has brought us even closer to our community, has earnt us more independence and financial freedom, and has made us lots of new friends.

Here are some photos of one of our repeat bookings, Jock, playing with Amelia earlier today. Jock is a particularly rewarding case for us; he is a 13 year old British Shorthair with a typical old man personality- he is very set in his ways. This has been our third time caring for Jock since August, and despite his owner’s warnings that we may never see him let alone get to know him, as you can see, we have since earnt his trust.

We love that this venture has gained us confidence within the community. The personal growth we have attained working with all of your amazing pets has been priceless.

Thanks again, guys!
Love from Jaz & Amelia
