Mayor Alex for Royersford
Hello, Royersford! I’m Alex Metricarti and I’m honored to be your mayor. I’m Alex Metricarti and I’m honored to be your new mayor.
My family and I first moved to Royersford in 2006 from a small town in Michigan. We came here because my husband’s family lived here, but right away we knew this was a town that could truly become home - friendly people, quality schools, a walkable community, and plenty of good jobs nearby. I hadn’t considered becoming involved in local government until my oldest son was in high school. As an assi
Main Street is open again. Thank you for your patience as crews worked to repay the pipe and road!
NEWS POST: MAIN STREET AT 4th AVE REOPENED MAIN STREET AT 4th AVE REOPENED - Thank you all for your cooperation *TRAFFIC ALERT* WATER MAIN BREAK AT 4TH AVE AND MAIN STMain Street at 4th Ave will be closed until the water main has been repaired.
Just spoke with John from PA American Water to get the latest update on our water main break.
The pipe is repaired and they are getting ready to fix the road. The good news is we will not end up with steel panels in the road. They are putting down 14 inches of hot mix blacktop for the repair.
For all of us history buffs, the pipe that broke dated to 1889. They found a date on it! It was cast iron and “fairly thick”. I should have asked what fairly thick meant. 🙂 And Main Street is concrete under our current road. Not cobblestone or brick.
John says the road will be closed for at least the rest of the afternoon. So plan accordingly!
PA American Water is hard at work finding and fixing the water main break. Main Street is definitely still detoured!
Main Street is still closed this morning between 3rd and 4th Avenues for the water main repair.

PA American Water says if you have water it’s safe to drink. The water to the homes in Main Street between 3rd and 4th has been turned off - so if you’re in those homes, don’t drink any water that happens to come out of your faucets.
More PA American contractors are arriving now - they are the ones who’ll start digging.
I am on site at the water main break at 4th and Main Street. After chatting with Ed from PA American Water, he informs me that they will most likely be working through the night to assess the situation and fix the issue.
Ed thinks this particular water main might be one of the original mains in town, which means it dates back to the 1890s!
I’m talking to some of the people who live in the area and they report they haven’t lost water, so that’s good news.
The road is closed between the 200 and 400 block of Main Street, so be prepared for a detour. It will most likely be closed at least for the rest of the night.
I’ll update you if I learn more.
Please be aware of the water main break tonight.
Pa American Water and Royersford Borough Police Department are addressing the water main issue on 4th and Main. Please adjust driving to any closures accordingly

If you’re still without power, the workers say they have one more pole that needs to be repaired and then power should be on for everyone.
If you’re wondering what’s going on with the power, tree branches fell on one of the lines near 4th and Main, which caused issues with some transformers.
PECO has trucks en route now, so hopefully this won’t take too long to repair.
I know there was a lot of concern on Facebook about a robbery in Victory Park. Thank you to the Royersford Borough Police Department for helping keep our community safe.

📣📣📣 Important public service announcement! Sweet corn is back at Renninger's Farm. Can you guess what we are having for dinner tonight? 🧐
Also, I don’t know why, but the cherries there are the best ones that I have had. They taste more like cherries than anything I’ve eaten in years, that makes sense.
Anyone else try them?

If you’re interested, here are the dates The Peach Truck will be in Royersford.
It’s been a busy morning, but I finally made it down to Royersford Borough Parks and Recreation Pride celebration on 1st Ave. Festivities continue until 2:30!
The Peach Truck has made it to Royersford! They will be in the parking lot on 2nd Ave. until 2:00 selling peaches straight from Georgia.
I talked with the peach guys and they told me these peaches are clingstone and picked no more than five days ago.
And I double checked - you didn’t have to pre-order the peaches, you can just come and buy some! You should also know it’s credit or debit sales only; no cash .
