Just like your kids learning to walk, focus on making a single, small improvement every single day.

Want to get up earlier? Start by waking up 5 minutes earlier than normal.

Want to eat healthier? Focus on nailing your healthy meals for just ONE day.

Let's be honest. Not every day is rainbows and butterflies. Some days are rough. Others are downright terrible.

It's easy to see all the negative things and find yourself in a mental downward spiral of doom.

Instead of focusing on the negative, find something positive.

Because it is literally impossible to think of something negative at the same time as something positive.

Being a dad isn’t easy. And It’s harder for some than for others.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sure, there are those dads who can always keep their cool and never seem to get upset about anything. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But then there’s the rest of us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Does this sounds familiar:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- You get pi**ed off easily. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- You lose your cool too quickly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- You scream or shout.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- You threaten timeout, or even resort to spanking. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- You don’t know how to respond in a calm, compassionate way.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If so, DadJournal can help you learn to keep calm before you lose your sh*t, then regret it later.

Attention sleep-deprived dads!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You probably don't get the sleep you need to feel super rested each day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What if we told you that it's not necessarily how much sleep you get, but rather, the quality of sleep that matters?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Before you turn to supplements like melatonin, try the 3-2-1 method. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3 - digesting food takes energy, which means your body isn't fully shutting down. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2 - Focusing on work too close to bed means your brain doesn't have the chance to wind down, leaving you with racing thoughts rather than falling into dreamland⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 - Blue light inhibits melatonin production and increases cortisol levels, both make it hard to get quality sleep. Our screens are the worst emitters of blue light so shut them down. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
INSTEAD, try this: eat earlier to give yourself time to digest your food, shut your work brain off along with the screens and spend the last two hours before bed journaling, writing down the things you need to accomplish tomorrow, then read something entertaining to help release the stress from the day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Comment below if you do these!

spir·it·u·al·i·ty » being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's easy to overlook the value of spirituality. It is intangible. It is often equated with religion or God. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But in its simplest form, spirituality is merely connecting with our souls. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is finding peace in our hearts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is seeking out forgiveness instead of revenge. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is believing in something bigger than ourselves. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is connecting with the energy of the universe. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And most don't actively prioritize spirituality in daily life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But all religions and spiritual teachers speak the same truth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ask and you shall receive. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Visualize it and it shall manifest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You get back what you put in.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Spirituality is the 🔑 to success. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In life. In relationships. In parenting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take a step back from businesses, careers, wealth, and appearances in order to refocus on your inner self.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Through this level of self-reflection, you will find more patience, compassion, and empathy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All of which are critical to being an amazing parent, partner and person.

As dads, we always strive to do our best. We teach our kids to do the same. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some days though, our best looks different than others. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some days, you may be super productive and check everything off your list. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Other days, you may feel like crap and not get much done at all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Both are ok. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Give yourself permission to accomplish a lot, or a little. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So long as YOU believe you're giving all you have today, that's all that should matter.

Parenting is hard. We often project our own lives onto our kids.

Our insecurities show up.

We often treat our kids the way our parents treated us—for better or worse.

The reality is, raising kids isn't about us, it's about them.

This is something that I've realized as my son gets older (he's nearing 3 years old). He is his own little being.

He has likes and dislikes.

He behaves in ways that I didn't.

Realizing that raising him is about recognizing who he is, and showing up in a way that suits HIM has been a game changer for me.

It has eliminated much of the frustration I felt early on.

And it has made him (and me) happier.

Tell me, which one of these do you need to work on the most? Comment below and I'll let you know what I struggled with the most.

Hey there! As the account reaches its first 500 followers and have just hit our 50th order 🥳 I figured it would be good to introduce myself and why I created the DadJournal.

First off, my name is John. My son is 2.5 years old and our family lives in LA. I started working on the DadJournal last year in the peak of COVID. My lil dude started walking about a week after the WFH mandate happened. We were living in a 650sqft 1 bedroom condo and my ‘office’ was in the living room. While trying to adapt to a new working style, he was getting into everything. While him joining my calls was cute, it was also super stressful.

Then summer came around. Riots were happing right down the street. We were scared it would come to our neighborhood. THEN election season came.

One stressor after another. Having only a few friends, I needed an outlet for all this stress and anxiety and fear. I looked online but there was nothing out there that took into account the experience of being a husband and father.

As a graphic designer by trade, I realized I had the skills to create a journal specifically to help dads. I researched other guided journals, I took my experiences with personal development tools I’d used in the past and spent all of my free time working on created a journal that would help dads focus on staying grateful, focusing on the future by setting goals and changing the ‘now’ by creating new habits.

By the time I’d completed it, it was 288 pages! 😧 when I looked at the cost, it was gunna be nearly $15,000 to get enough of them that I could actually sell them for a reasonable price. So I tried launching it on Kickstarter. Many of you here were actually early backers of that campaign.

While I didn’t hit my funding goal, I got enough supporters to feel like this was something you guys actually wanted. So I searched and found a new manufacturer that could cut my minimum order in half and drop the cost to a point I could swing the cost. So I financed it myself!

Fast forward three months to today - we’ve sold nearly 100 copies in over 50 orders!! I’m incredibly grateful for your support and look forward to helping many more dads! 🤘🏽

TLDR; Being a dad isn’t easy. I created the DadJournal, an 8-week guided journal with a focus on creating better habits, being more grateful, and working through the various mental and emotional challenges of dadhood through daily journal prompts. But I need your support to raise funds via Kickstarter to bring this project to life.

__________________________________________________________

This project has been 9 months in the making but I’m so happy to finally able to share it with you all.
Last year, I struggled to adapt to the sudden shift to a full-time WFH environment with a newly walking 1-year-old. Coupled with all of the civil unrest just blocks from my home in LA, the political turmoil of the 2020 election, and the overall insecurity caused by COVID, it goes without saying, it was a stressful time. By the fall, the 'terrible twos' hit a bit early which only added to the stress of the year.

At the time, I had been using a guided journal for men but realized that it didn't quite take into account the unique challenges presented by fatherhood—the added stress of raising a child, the sleepless nights, the overwhelming frustrations, the feelings of not being good enough, juggling a relationship, parenting and a job in which I took on more responsibility, and the worry that I couldn’t do it all. That's when I had an idea that would consume every extra moment of my time—a journal just for dads.

Aptly named the DadJournal, this isn't just a book to write in. I incorporated all of the personal development work that I had been doing on myself over the past 5 years—creating healthier habits around sleep, nutrition, fitness, and mindset, practicing gratitude daily, setting daily and weekly goals, and actively journaling—to help dads become the best version of themselves.

But I need YOUR support to bring this to the world, so I am launching the DadJournal on Kickstarter next week, July 14th. My goal is to raise the capital needed in order to place an order for the first 1000 copies. And that's just the start. I want to bring the power of journaling and personal development to millions of dads around the world (lofty goals, I know).

Go to https://dadjournal.co to learn more about the DadJournal and sign up to be the first in life to back this project on July 14th.

Please share this with all the moms and dads you know. I believe the world needs more products like this, and that we, as a society owe it to all the moms of past and present who always did so much more than us, to help dads become better, more emotionally equipped, supportive, and patient men to help raise the future generations of kids. Together, I truly believe we can change the landscape of fatherhood forever.

Meditation doesn't have to be this hippy-dippy, earthy-crunchy thing. Meditation is simply disconnecting from the world for a moment to reconnect with yourself, redirect your energy, and recenter your focus.

Swipe all the way for 4 quick ways to work meditation into your day, even when you feel you don't have time. It only takes 60 seconds, and the benefits are worth the effort.

"Show me your habits and I'll show you your future." –Unknown

We all know good habits are the cornerstone of high-achievers. Yet, we often overlook the simplest ones. As dad's we are pushed to the limits of our abilities, often feeling tired, lethargic, unproductive or even downright lazy. All of this can lead to feeling crappy, which reflects in the way we show up for our kids.

Implement these 6 habits and have more energy, gbe more productive and just feel better doing it—so you can show up as the best damn dad in the world, every single day.

2020 was tough for everyone. It truly reinforced the need to have healthy ways to relieve stress. Here are just a few that we love and use every day.

It's true. You were once a beginner, a newbie, a kid. Everything you grew to be good at you once sucked at. It was only after hours and hours of working at your craft that things got easier. The same holds true for new habits like journaling. It's hard to get started, but like all the other skills you have, you will get better at it too. It helps to get started with the right tools though, which is why the DadJournal has daily prompts, so you don't sit staring at a blank page wondering what to write.

Self-discipline is the hardest skill to master. It is also the skill through which all other skills are mastered. If you struggle with eating healthy, consistently working out, waking up early, or creating new habits, first focus on building self-discipline, then watch how much easier it is to do those other things.

We believe that becoming a better dad starts with becoming a better man. Focus on improving your Self by cultivating a positive mindset, creating healthier habits, finding your passions in life, and minimizing stress. Only then can you SHOW your kids how to be good people rather than tell them.
