Mason made a run on the 125 at Loretta’s this year, but was unable to punch a ticket. We gave a great effort this year as far training and preparation. Time for the team to regroup and assess our goals. We will more than likely move up to a 250F now and abandon our plans of racing the Gas Gas. Cameron will continue on his 65 and will move up to an 85 next year.

Well it’s been a long time since we’ve posted, almost 7 months. A lot has happened with the team. Mason ended up 2nd overall in 125 B/C in the Michigan State Championship series missing the title by only 3 points and 2nd overall in Schoolboy 1. Cameron ended up 8th overall in 65(10-11)for his efforts. We opted not to go to mini O’s and instead worked on getting our bikes running better. After a long winter, the team headed to Club MX in South Carolina for spring training. Mason qualified for LL at Sunset Ridge MX and Dutch Motosport Park. We are currently training again at Club MX for the regionals. This will be the last year on a 125 for Mason and the last year on a 65 for Cameron. Mason will spend his time on his ‘22 KTM and a new ‘23 GasGas. Cameron will continue to hone his skills on his ‘22 KTM as well.

The Nitz Racing team arrived late Friday night at Log Road MX. Saturday’s races went decently with Cameron Ty taking a 4th place finish overall in the 65cc (10-11) class. Mason Lee Nitz would pull a few holeshots and get the overall win in the 125 B/C class & 3rd overall in schoolboy 1. Sunday the team would see stiffer competition. Cam would go 7-6 in his class. Unfortunately Mason’s bike would lose the bottom end while leading the schoolboy race. He finished his last race on a backup bike. After an early crash Mason would fight his way to a 5th place finish. Lots of unwanted drama over the weekend for the team to say the least. We head to Valley MX for the last Michigan state race with Mason within 2 points of the state title. Now begins the scramble to get a bike to run well enough for our last race. Proud of the team for persevering.

Nitz Racing headed to Portland trail riders’ track for racing over the weekend. We hadn’t been to this track in nearly 3 years. Once again this was a big track that Cameron had never raced on. He did well with a 4th place finish on Saturday and a 9th overall on Sunday. The competition was out in full force in the 65 (10-11) class. The same can be said for the 125 classes as well. Mason struggled early on to find the faster lines. He would get a 5th & 6th on Saturday in both his classes. For state race Sunday we had a better plan. Most of the kids we are racing now come straight from Loretta’s. Mason proved he can hang with the faster guys. He ended up with a 5th place in 125 B/C after a crash while he was running in the top 3 & he ended up 3rd overall in Schoolboy 1 after back to back 2nd place motos. Proud of the boys and their HARD fought effort both days. ON to Log Road in 2 weeks…

The Nitz Racing team attended their 2nd ever national motocross race at Baja Acres in Millington, Michigan. Cameron Ty needs more seat time on his 65 before he races a national. He will try his luck at Mini O’s in November. Mason Lee on the #161 raced the schoolboy 1 (12-17) class and 125 B/C. This was a 3 race format. Mason ended up 19th overall out of 41 riders in schoolboy 1 and 10th overall in 125 B/C out of 40 riders. This was another great learning experience for the team. We will use this race as a stepping stone for things to come in the future. Proud of the work put in.

The Nitz Racing team got some weekly practice Wednesday night at the Sandbox in Vassar. The team is coming off from some great finishes at Cadillac M/C this past weekend. Mason won the 125 B/C both days and Cameron got a 4th overall on Saturday. Cameron continues to improve every race. We will be headed to Grattan Mx in Belding, Mi for a state race Saturday & then get ready the following week for the Baja brawl in Millington, Mi.

Glad to say all the wheels are turning at Nitz Racing. We got both of Mason’s 125’s up and running. With a new motor, we are slowly bringing the ‘22 into the mix, but we are riding the wheels off the ‘21. Mason did 6 hours of training with Matt & Joey Crown today at Baja Acres. The #161 was looking very fast today. Cameron, #589, will be training at Bulldogs M/C this week for the state race at Cadillac M/C on the 21st. The team has taken a little time off to regroup and get themselves ready for the next event. I think they are ready. Let’s go racing…

The Nitz Racing boys did decent at Twisted Mx in Milan, Michigan. We were once again plagued by bike problems with the KTM 125s. This has become a serious issue for us. Mason was doing well in both Schoolboy 1 and 125 B/C when one bike went down for good and the back up bike was also not running well. He toughed it out until the bikes just would not perform. No fault of his. We’re back to the drawing board. The team could use some serious help with these bikes. We should not be having this many problems with new bikes. Cameron had two great days of racing. He almost scored 2 holeshots by less than a bike length. He also finished the best he’s had since he’s been on a 65. Finishing 6th overall on Saturday and 4th overall on Sunday. We will practice this week and regroup for Polkadots MC in Midland, Michigan.

25/06/2022

The boys are ready for practice at Big Air Mx in Newaygo, Mi. Cameron has never raced here on the big track before Mason has done well here before, we are looking to repeat those results. This weekend will be our last race weekend for about 2 weeks. With the holiday coming up we will rebuild bikes, enjoy some time away from racing and regroup for the state races at Twisted Mx.

Tough weekend for Nitz Racing at Sunset Ridge MX in Walnut, IL. Cameron did not race the weekend. Mason had good qualifying times during practice Friday with a 1:56 being his fastest lap. 22 kids in his first moto for Schoolboy 1. Decent hole shots but it wouldn’t be enough and a crash 2nd moto would leave him with 20th overall. Sunday’s motos in 125 Jr went better with Mason placing 14th overall. Unfortunately we didn’t qualify in either class. We did gain some experience and a perspective to build on moving forward. Even though we qualified in the mid-east area, we will not pursue the regional at Wildcat creek. We have to be more consistent every lap and shave those times by at least 5 seconds to be competitive. Cornering and starts will be the focus.

06/05/2022

The team is getting ready for our first attempt at a Loretta Lynn’s area qualifier this weekend at Baja Acres MX in Millington, Mi. The boys have been practicing hard locally and also showing well at local races. Mason Nitz #161, will be racing the Schoolboy 1 class as well as the 125 Jr class. Mason will also race a non-qualifying Schoolboy 2 class against a majority of 250 four strokes both days. Cameron Nitz #589, will race a non-qualifying 65 open class both days.

The team is getting it done at Club MX. We are 3 weeks in and making great progress. Excited to get the KTM’s home and on the D14 race tracks for the area LL Qualifiers. 2022✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻

We are live in South Carolina at Club MX! We will be training here for the month of March in anticipation of the 2022 Michigan seasonal motocross series. Our goals this year will include the Michigan State Championship series, Mini O’s in Florida, and the Loretta Lynn’s National. Good luck wishes and prayers accepted. Thanks to our many sponsors for their continued support.
