Hank Aaron : 1934-2021
A page dedicated to the life of Henry Louis Aaron.
"On October 3, 1976, Hank Aaron comes to bat for the final time facing Tiger hurler Dave Roberts. The Milwaukee Brewers’ 42-year-old DH scratches out an infield single before leaving the game for a pinch-runner. Aaron drives in his 2,297th run as the sixth-place Brewers lose to the Tigers 5 – 2. Ironically, Aaron, who is in scoring position when he is removed from the game, needed one more run scored to break a tie with Babe Ruth for the most runs in baseball history. Except for Minnie Minoso’s appearance in three games with the White Sox as a 50 year-old in 1980, ‘Hammerin’ Hank’ will be the last major leaguer who played in the Negro Leagues to appear in a big league game."
