New hat day!!!

Round two of plaster repair complete I started sanding her down and exposed more previous repairs done cheaply with newspaper and tape just barely under the surface of plaster. I dug it all out backfilled with plaster and poured more plaster into the main hollow part of the bust to give it more weight and solidity so she can have a longer life. she will need a few more rounds of sanding and small plaster repair before final paint commences. But I’m getting really excited about taking this souvenir that originated in Mexico then found its way to San Marcos and has had at least one if not two rounds of repair. it’s always cool to find an artifact like this that started as a cheap mass produced souvenir or trinket of devotion but someone deemed precious enough to put time and energy into repairing when broken.
