Everyone experiences stress, which can be triggered by a range of events, from small daily hassles to major changes like a divorce, academy stress or job loss. When you experience stress, physical components such an elevated heart rate and blood pressure are taken place, thoughts and personal beliefs about the stressful event, and emotions, including fear and anger. Although we often think of it as being negative, stress can also come from positive changes in ones life, like getting a promotion at work, preparing for wedding or having a new baby.

When you are stressed, you can try the following...
Examine your values and live by them.
Assert yourself, learn to say NO
Set realistic goals and expectations on things you can control.
When you’re feeling overwhelmed, remind yourself of what you do well. Have a healthy self esteem.

Others include

-Mediation
-Listening to music
-Relax and take a deep breath always
-Spend time with loved
-It's also okay to ask for a break so that you won't breakdown.

Thanks for reading.
Kindly share.

I understand your pain. Trust me, I do. I’ve seen people go from the darkest moments in their lives to living a happy, fulfilling life. You can do it too. I believe in you. You will NEVER BE a burden cause I found that, with that depression or other, one of the most important things you can realize is that you’re not alone. You’re not the first to go through it, you’re not gonna be the last to go through it.

Hi there!
How have you been fairing so far?

This month, I'll talk about Seasonal depression.
As we all know there are different kind of depression, but this month I'll be making emphasis on Seasonal depression.

It is brought on by specific events or situations, such as: Divorce, death of loved ones, chronic illness, Unemployment, being in an abusive/ toxic relationship, economy and financial status of a country (like the one presently going on in Nigeria).
It's normal to feel down sometimes and even try to isolate yourself but situation/seasonal depression happens when it begin to feel out of proportion.

Symptoms to lookout for after it persistently happens for three months.
-Hopeless
-frequent crying
- Aches, pains, fatigues and no energy
- anxiety
- social withdrawal and sometimes suicidal thoughts.

What to do:
Sometimes in very severe cases, there are drug prescription, reason why you may need to visit psychiatric centers.
Talk to the right people and don't die in silence.
Change routine and do new things like swimming, jogging, painting and dancing.
Spend time with family and friends.
Try to eat good foods and have enough rest.

NB: if you have anyone going through this mental state, listen, but don’t judge, argue, threaten, or yell. Be kind with your words.

Bipolar
Do you know that Bipolar is one of the most common mental issues that most Nigerians battle with?

Infact, more than 1.5 million cases are reported per year (Nigeria)

This disorder is associated with episodes of mood swings; it was once referred to as “manic depression,” characterized by dramatic mood swings which may have a person feeling extremely happy and full of optimism in one day, followed by other days where the individual feels really depressed and has no hope for the future. (it is stronger than the normal mood swings we have)
Bipolar disorder can result in a number of risky behaviors or choices which could include alcohol and drug addiction, violence towards others, and even su***de.

Although the exact cause of bipolar disorder isn’t known, but a combination of biopsychosocial effect i.e genetics/brain structure, environment and general lifestyle may play a role.

You might be suffering from Bipolar when you start having this symptoms, although it requires a thorough medical diagnosis.

-Manic signs may include symptoms such as high energy, insomnia and loss of touch with reality.
-Depressive signs may include symptoms such as low energy, low motivation and loss of interest in daily activities.
-Mood symptoms last for days to months at a time and may also be associated with suicidal thoughts and ideation.

*Treatment*
Medication- Anti psychotic drug
Psychotherapy- visit therapist, psychiatrist or professional psychologist, you will be welcome and overcome it.
Few things to do to help treat bipolar disorder.
