Ever feel like you're ready to make big changes, but something's holding you back?
You know, it's often like getting into a car, ready to speed off towards a grand destination, only to realise that the handbrake's still on.
So, what's your handbrake?
Is it that voice whispering you're not good enough, not deserving enough, or that you'll never be able to make lasting changes? Yep, I've been there too.
How often have you caught yourself asking, "Will anything work for me?" Each setback feeds into these insecurities, creating a loop that feels endless.
The big, haunting fearsโof failure, of missing out, or even of success.
As someone who's faced this battle head-on, shedding 45 kg (100 lbs) and gaining a new zest for life after 30 years of self-sabotage, trust me, I understand how those internal blocks can stop you dead in your tracks.
But here's the thingโyou can disengage that handbrake. It's completely in your power.
You're not bound to the stories you tell yourself. Instead of thinking, "I'll always be this way," remind yourself, "I can change, and I will."
๐ ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐ฒ: Being mindful is about more than meditation or deep breathing. It's about making conscious choices. Instead of running on autopilot, actively decide which habits serve you best and practice them regularly.
๐ ๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ: Transformation isn't a one-night affair; it's a series of small, consistent steps. Take it one day at a time. Even if the steps are imperfect, they're still steps forward.
Tony Robbins once said, "Divorce the story of your limitations and marry the truth of your unlimited capacity." Isn't it time we all took his advice to heart? Let's release those handbrakes and drive confidently into our healthier, happier futures.
Remember, you're not walking this path alone. It's never too late to turn things around, and believe me when I say, I'm your biggest cheerleader.
Recently back from an incredible adventure in Plymouth and the Torbay Area ๐๏ธ ๐ฆ๏ธ!
Who says a grey, cold, and rainy summer holiday can't be fantastic? Better luck with the weather next year! ๐
The food experience has been truly extraordinary ๐ฝ๏ธ. Enjoying lots of delicious treats, savouring every bite, and the best part? Coming back 4 lbs lighter without worrying about food, calories, or portion control even once ๐ฅ๐ช.
Exploring the "English Riviera" was filled with surprises and learning ๐งญ. Immersed myself in the history of the great discoverers who once set sail from Plymouth, including the Mayflower โ. Being close to the sea and absorbing the rich history has given me a wellness boost unlike any other. All those breezy walks, fresh air, and yes, even the rain, contributed to a sense of connection and revitalisation ๐ง๏ธ๐.

Growing up, I faced many challenges with my health, weight, and body image.
Like many, I believed that being thin was the key to beauty and happiness and my environment reinforced that belief.
At the age of 15, I started dieting and exercising.
I tried countless weight loss programmes, hoping to find a solution.
However, despite my efforts, nothing seemed to work for me. I yo-yo'd from one diet to another. I felt weak, hopeless, and utterly despondent.
The voice inside my head was harsh and unkind, constantly criticising my appearance and making me feel inadequate.
As the years went by, my struggle only intensified.
When I hit 30, things took a turn for the worse. I found myself trapped in a vicious cycle of emotional binge-eating, and within just three years, I gained an enormous amount of weight.
The impact on me was truly devastating. I was miserable, in pain, and desperately seeking a way out.
Then, in 2021, everything changed. I stumbled upon the concept of "Food Freedom," and it was my lightbulb moment.
I discovered that I could nourish my body in a way that felt natural and enjoyable, without having to resort to restrictive diets or deprivation.
Seeing things from a new perspective, I learned to listen to my body's hunger cues - honouring its needs while still enjoying the foods I loved.
The results were astounding. In just 90 days, I released 36.8 lbs of weight effortlessly.
I didn't need to spend endless hours at the gym or restrict myself to achieve this transformation. Most importantly, I felt fantastic!
My energy levels were consistent throughout the day, my sleep improved significantly, and I woke up feeling refreshed and revitalised.
Emotional eating, arthritic pain, hair loss, and problems with chafing are a thing of the past.
My overall quality of life improved beyond measure.
With such a remarkable personal transformation, becoming a certified WILDFITยฎ coach was a natural next step for me.
I wanted to share my newfound knowledge and help others break free from the vicious cycle of dieting and willpower struggles.
In 2022, I had the privilege of guiding two dozen individuals on their journey to discover their own health and vitality.
Witnessing their incredible transformations and the positive impact it had on their lives was truly inspiring.
So, if you're tired of the constant battle with diets and ready to transform your health and wellbeing for good, I'm here for you - just DM!
Let's embark on this journey together and create the healthy, vibrant life you've always dreamed of.
Together, we can break free from the chains of dieting and unlock the incredible potential that lies within you.
Learning to ditch the diets and eat for health, will pay dividends in every aspect of your life.
Say goodbye to the old ways, and let's embrace a future filled with food freedom, radiant health, and boundless vitality.
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the relationship between food and emotions.
It's fascinating how easily food can become a sanctuary when we're going through tough times. Whether it's stress, sadness, or even boredom, we often find ourselves reaching for something delicious to comfort us.
But here's the thing: when you turn to food in those moments, you're not really nourishing your body with what it truly needs. Instead, you're trying to satisfy your emotional hunger and cravings for change in your life.
Through my own journey, I've realised that it's important to pay attention to what your body actually needs and listen to the signals it sends you. Are you hungering for a sense of fulfillment, connection, or adventure?
It could be that you're longing for a change in your routines, a new hobby, or even some quality time with loved ones.
Of course, I'm not saying you should completely ignore your cravings or deny yourself the joy of indulging in your favorite treats. Far from it!
Life is all about balance, and there's nothing wrong with enjoying some comfort food every now and then. After all, food has a way of bringing people together and sparking joy.
But it's also essential to be mindful of your emotional wellbeing and find healthier ways to satisfy those deeper needs. Maybe it's finding solace in a good book, going for a long walk in nature, or even exploring new experiences that ignite your passions.
So let's not just feed our stomachs, but also nourish our souls. Let's listen to what our bodies truly need and make choices that bring us both comfort and growth. After all, life is too short to settle for anything less than what makes us truly happy.
DO YOU LIKE WATERMELONS? I remember a time when eating "just watermelon" for breakfast felt like a punishment but, today, it feels like a treat!
In case anybody needs a reminder...
Not too long ago, I found myself standing in front of the mirror, feeling a mix of frustration and determination...
I knew deep down that I wanted to make a change in my life. I wanted to transform my body, lose weight, and have the energy to chase after my dreams. But I also knew that there was no magic wand to make it happen overnight.
I had tried various diets and exercise plans in the past, only to find myself overwhelmed and burnt out. It felt like I was constantly trying to follow a set of rigid rules, striving for perfection, and beating myself up whenever I slipped up. It wasn't sustainable, and it definitely wasn't enjoyable.
That's when I had an epiphany. What if I shifted my perspective and focused on one meal at a time? It seemed like a simple idea, but it held a lot of promise. Instead of obsessing over every single calorie or meticulously planning every meal, I decided to make the best decision I could in each moment.
I started by making small changes, like swapping out sugary coffee creations for herbal tea or opting for a side salad instead of fries. These choices didn't feel restrictive or burdensome; they felt empowering and right for me. I realised that I didn't have to be perfect all the time. It was about progress, not perfection and even though some choices have the potential to slow me down, I don't have to let them stop me from arriving at my goal in my own time.
Of course, life threw its curveballs at me.
There were times when I found myself faced with less-than-ideal options, like being invited for a work brunch with colleagues or attending social gatherings with tempting treats. In those moments, I reminded myself that the decision to choose from what's available is entirely up to me and that I can choose to make the best choice from that selection - even if it's not an ideal choice.
It wasn't always easy, but I discovered a newfound sense of freedom and flexibility. I allowed myself to enjoy indulgences every now and then without guilt, knowing that one meal wouldn't make or break my progress. It was about balance, moderation, and above all, self-compassion.
As time went on, I started seeing changes not only in my physical appearance but also in my mindset. I had more energy, felt more confident, and noticed a shift in my overall well-being. Weight loss became a byproduct of my commitment to taking care of myself one meal at a time and deciding to eat for how I want to FEEL instead if worrying about the fluctuating numbers on the scale or worrying about my appearance 24/7.
This journey taught me that transformation is a process, and it's not meant to be rushed. It's about embracing the small victories, celebrating progress, and being kind to ourselves along the way. I'm still on this journey, and I'm grateful for the support and encouragement I've received from amazing friends like you.
So, if you're standing in front of that mirror right now, feeling that mix of frustration and determination, know that you're not alone. Together, let's take it one meal at a time, supporting each other, and embracing the imperfect moments. Trust me, the results will be more incredible than you can imagine. ๐๐ชโค๏ธ
Let me know in the comments if this message resonates and if you're excited about trying this concept out next time you're confronted with a food environment that is less than ideal for moving you towards your goals.
By aligning your actions with your ultimate health and body goals, you're empowering yourself to make conscious choices that nurture your emotional wellbeing and support your overall health.
Recognising your triggers and becoming more aware of your emotional responses is a crucial step toward developing healthier coping mechanisms and regaining control over your decision-making.
Maybe it happens mostly when you feel judged...? Or when you feel reigned in too tight so you gain back control by letting loose at the end of the day with a take-away feast?
Whatever your circumstances and habits may be, the best thing you can do is to learn how to navigate your triggers. So, how can you do that?
Well, it all starts with the art of pausing, reflecting, and consciously choosing alternative actions. It's a learnable skill that we can train and improve over time.
Whenever you feel that emotional pull toward food, take a moment to pause and ask yourself: "What am I really feeling? Am I truly hungry, or is there something else going on?" This self-reflection allows you to become more aware of your emotional state and understand what's driving your desire to eat.
Once you've identified your triggers, it's time to explore alternative actions.
Instead of reaching for that bag of crisps or pint of ice cream, think about other ways to address your emotional needs.
Maybe it's going for a walk to relieve stress, journaling to express your emotions, or calling a friend for support. Find activities that bring you joy, comfort, and fulfillment without relying solely on food BUT do not let yourself feel truly hungry or deprived in the process.
Remember, it's all about creating a healthier and more balanced relationship with our emotions and food. By aligning your actions with your ultimate health goals, you're empowering yourself to make conscious choices that nurture your emotional AND physical wellbeing.
And if it feels all too impossible, at least allow yourself to feel compassion and be gentle with your body. Transformations don't happen overnight - choose consistency over intensity to succeed.
Consistency over intensity is the key to success, my friends! It's not about going all out and burning yourself out in a week. Slow and steady wins the race!
Did you know that sugar is in almost everything we eat - and not just in sweet foods? I've seen ingredients such as "brown sugar" added to tomato sauce, prawns in garlic oil, cooked deli meats, and even smoked salmon!
But don't worry, you can still enjoy your favorite treats in a healthy way! Finding a balance is key. Try swapping out sugary drinks for water, adding fruit to your desserts, or choosing dark chocolate over milk chocolate where possible.
A little indulgence from time to time is okay, as long as you factor in that each indulgence will come with inevitable sugar cravings... which will pass if managed well. Small changes can make a big difference without leaving you feeling deprived.
What is your number one sweet treat and how can you balance it with healthier choices?

Life has thrown me many curveballs, from a young age, often leaving me feeling lost, unloved, and unworthy. It's a tough spot to be in, and I struggled to find a way to cope.
In those moments of despair, I discovered solace in food. Food became my temporary escape, my momentary comfort. It filled the void inside me, if only for a brief while and my need for this temporary solace grew so strong that I was willing to risk my health, my marriage and my friendships to attain it. Maybe you can relate to that feeling?
There was something soothing about the act of eating, the different flavours and textures that brought me a fleeting sense of fulfillment. It was like a warm hug or a reassuring pat on the back. But deep down, I knew it wasn't a sustainable solution. Food couldn't fix what was truly going on inside.
As time went on, I embarked on a journey of self-reflection and soul-searching. It was a process that demanded honesty and vulnerability. And it was during this journey that I realised seeking validation and worthiness through food was merely a Band-Aidโa temporary fix that left me feeling empty once again.
It took me many years of denial to be able to admit this but the path to feeling loved, wanted, and worthy began within me.
It meant recognising my own value, embracing my strengths, and extending kindness to myself. I won't sugarcoat itโit was no easy task. But oh, it was absolutely worth it.
Step by step, I learned to love myself a little more. I'm still far from the pinnacle of self-love and acceptance of my flaws. But at the very least I'm now able to acknowledge and celebrate my unique qualities.
I do my best to surround myself with people who uplift and support me on this transformative journey. And slowly but surely, I begin to find healthier ways to cope with my emotions, channeling my energy into positive outlets that nurture my soul.
So, you find yourself in a similar place, feeling that void and seeking temporary solace in food, know that you are not alone. It's okay to acknowledge the struggle, for that is the first step towards change. But remember, true fulfillment comes from within. It lies in embracing your worthiness, fostering self-love, and seeking healthier means to cope.
Let us come together as a community on this incredible journey. Let us support one another, uplift each other, and work towards filling that void with self-love, meaningful connections, and positive experiences. Together, we possess the strength to break free from the cycle and discover the lasting fulfillment we truly deserve.
If this resonates with you, I invite you to share your thoughts in the comments below. Let's promote empathy, support and growth. Always remember, my friend, you are loved, wanted, and worthy. May you never forget that. โค๏ธ
[Photo: A snapshot of my childhood, at the age of five, helping my grandmother in the kitchen. Even at a young age, I carried the weight of self-doubt and worries about my body. I felt like food was the only way to quiet my busy mind and escape from judgment.]
It's ironic, isn't it? The very behaviour you undertake to assert a semblance of control over your emotions can often make you feel like you're losing control. This feeling of powerlessness can be overwhelming and can lead to a cycle of guilt and self-blame.
This was true for me in the past. I was trapped in a vicious cycle that was destroying my health, my body, and my relationships.
Don't let that happen to you... find support to become conscious of your behaviour patterns and their underlying causes and create a better relationship with food before it gets to be a serious problem.

Your body knows what it needs, trust it! Listen to those hunger cues and fuel up with nourishing foods.

A lot of people think that doing something drastic will get them the best results when it comes to transforming how they look.
Even more people believe that feeling better comes from looking better first and - sadly - there are many media messages that proliferate that belief.
This is what I learned when I went from a UK size 24 to a UK size 14 in under 2 years:
Whether you want to reduce your weight and size or if you wish to improve your appearance by getting clearer skin or by having whiter teeth doesn't matter.
Any goal you have to improve your appearance must come from a basis of feeling good first. And the healthier you are, the better you feel.
So, if you'd love to learn more about how this principle works in action, join my free group and find out how you can eat well, find peace and discover food freedom - no willpower required!

DO YOU LIKE PINEAPPLE? I remember a time when eating "just pineapple" for breakfast felt like a punishment but today, it feels like a treat!
Have you ever stopped to think about how your much-loved comfort food makes you FEEL?
I mean, sure, it tastes amazing and brings that "Ahhh, life's good" feeling for a moment. But what about after? Maybe you have also experienced some of the not-so-pleasant consequences of indulging in comfort food - bloating, indigestion, brain fog?
Ever heard this gem from Ralph Waldo Emerson? "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you someone else is the greatest accomplishment." ๐ And oh boy, I can't agree more!
I can't count how many times people (even doctors) have told me with confidence that I'm NOT gluten intolerant, that whole-grains are the holy grail of a balanced diet, or that dairy is a must-have for strong bones! I've even been told that my love for starchy carbs couldn't be the reason behind my life-long (and very distressing) weight gain.
Raised to be a "good girl", I believed it all for years and I let those voices drown out the most important one: MINE.
My body was shouting out, loud and clear, sending me signals to tell me what my food choices were doing to me: swollen fingers, aching joints, unexplained aches and pains, constant stiffness, the creeping anxiety, the never-ending low mood, and the dreaded insomnia.
Yet, I kept turning the volume down, pushing my body's warnings aside. And the price? Almost losing the most precious thing: my LIFE and the quality of the life that I had left. ๐
The worst part? At 33, I thought I deserved to pay this price for all the "bad" decisions I'd made about food. I felt utterly incompetent, never considered that the advice I was getting was just wrong for me. Today, I know that it wasn't my fault. I was choosing based on what the world was saying, rather than listening to my own inner guide and I didn't know any better.
When I finally started to work WITH my body, really tuning into my inner self, something amazing happened. ๐ซ I witnessed a total renewal - of my health, my body, and even my life! I found beauty in life again, felt the warmth of gratitude to God and the Universe for helping me turn that corner, see the light, and believe in a brighter future.
And guess what? I'm at peace now. At peace with my body, with my food choices, and with myself. The best thing is: this peace comes from within. It comes from a new, unshakable confidence that I can work with my body to recognise what choices are right for me - without having to demonise any food. I keep choosing what FEELS GOOD to eat.
Learning how to listen to my body took some practice. The signals weren't very clear at first and it wasn't easy to work out which foods caused which symptoms. But working with a coach, and slowly becoming free from the influence of the non-funcitonal foods, I could receive the signals loud and clear.
Today, I feel free, comfortable in my own skin and happy that I can trust myself. ๐ฆ Here's to making choices that make YOU feel good! Stop solely relying on what everyone else says and thinks you should eat! YOU are the expert on what feels good for you. ๐
๐ Let's be real: stress can wreak havoc on your weight loss goals.
When those overwhelming emotions hit you, it's all too easy to turn to food for comfort. I know, I've been there. But here's the thing: you don't have to let stress sabotage your progress. The key lies in finding healthier ways to relieve stress without overeating.
Easier said than done, right? Well, I've got a few tips that have helped me navigate this tricky territory:
1๏ธโฃ ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐จ๐๐ฒ:
Engage in physical activity that you enjoy. Whether it's going for a run, dancing it out, or practicing yoga, intentional movement releases endorphins and helps combat stress.
2๏ธโฃ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ฌ๐ ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐-๐๐๐ซ๐:
Take time for yourself. Engage in activities that relax and rejuvenate you, such as reading, taking a bath, or practicing mindfulness techniques like deep breathing.
3๏ธโฃ ๐๐๐๐๐ก ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ:
Don't hesitate to lean on your support network. Talk to a friend, family member, or coach who can lend an empathetic ear or provide guidance during stressful times.
Discover activities that help you destress without involving food. It could be listening to music, journaling, painting, or even trying out a new hobby. Get creative!
5๏ธโฃ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐๐ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ :
When you do eat, do it with intention. Slow down, savor each bite, and listen to your body's hunger and fullness cues. This can help prevent mindless overeating.
Remember, we're all a work in progress. Don't beat yourself up if you slip up and turn to food during moments of stress. Instead, view it as an opportunity for growth and learning. Give yourself grace and get back on track with your healthy habits.
Each new decision to eat something is an opportunity to do better than before. If the last meal (or snack) wasn't exactly on track the next one can be.
What's your go-to comfort food when you're feeling stressed or anxious? Mine used to be pizza and whenever I had a craving, even my dairy and gluten intolerance couldn't stop me.๐

I know it's a pain in the backside to have to read the ingredients... and with the amount of obscure substances cited these days, it usually doesn't feel like you're any the wiser for having made the effort.
So, here's an easy rule of thumb: the fewer ingredients the better!
DOES SELF-ACCEPTANCE EVER FEEL EASY?
It's tough to put into words just how devastating it can feel to be unhappy with your appearance and lacking that sense of ease in your own skin.
But you know what? I'm here to tell you that there is hope, and there is a way to break free from those chains of self-doubt and negativity. I have only recently discovered the power of self-acceptance, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer!
Learning to accept myself and treating my body with compassion and kindness has been a transformative journey. It hasn't been easy, and there have been moments of doubt and frustration along the way, but it's all been worth it.
Instead of harboring bitterness and disgust towards my body, I've started embracing it for all that it isโa vessel that carries me through this beautiful journey called life. I've learned to appreciate the amazing things my body can do, rather than focusing solely on how it looks.
I've realised that true beauty radiates from within. It's about the love, kindness, and positivity that we cultivate in our hearts. It's about embracing our unique quirks and imperfections, because that's what makes us who we areโauthentic and beautiful individuals.
But this doesn't mean that that you should give up on your goals or that you're not allowed to change. In fact, the only time I have been able to change my body externally was AFTER I accepted myself the way I was. Body positivity should be the path to liberation not a way to keep you stuck where you are.
So, if you find yourself in a similar struggle, please know that you're not alone. It's okay to ask for help and support. Surround yourself with people who uplift and encourage you on your journey toward self-acceptance and do your best to ignore the critics.
Accept where you are first and and THEN start taking small, gentle and consistent steps towards your goal and transformation is sure to follow down the line.
Remember, you are worthy of love and happiness, regardless of your appearance. Treat yourself with compassion, be patient with yourself, and celebrate the small victories along the way. You deserve all the love and kindness in the world.
I'm here cheering you on, and together, we can embrace our bodies and live our lives with confidence and joy whilst still moving towards our long-term goals.
Sending you all virtual hugs and endless love! ๐โจ

The diet industry has trained us to feel guilty whenever we indulge in something less nutritious. But here's the truth: it's okay to enjoy those foods without the guilt. ๐
You see, the key to finding relief from that guilt trip is shifting your mindset. You don't have to make a single change to feel relieved of that burden. It's about giving yourself permission to savor those moments of indulgence and to recognise that they're part of a balanced, enjoyable life.
Now, I'm not saying we should throw healthy choices out the window and go on a junk food binge! Balance is still important, and nourishing our bodies with wholesome foods is crucial for our wellbeing. But it's equally important to give ourselves grace and flexibility when it comes to enjoying less nutritious options.
When we release ourselves from the guilt and shame associated with food choices, something incredible happens. We develop a healthier relationship with food and ourselves. We can enjoy that slice of pizza or that decadent dessert without beating ourselves up about it.
So, let's challenge the narrative that the diet industry has ingrained in us. Let's embrace a more compassionate and balanced approach to food. Remember, you don't have to make a single change to feel relieved of that guilt. Give yourself permission to enjoy the foods you love without judgment or shame.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this topic! How have you navigated the guilt trip of the diet industry? Let me know in the comments!
