Flashback Friday! It’s crazy to think we’re already through the 1st half of 2024. Within the past 6 months, my Instagram following has more than quadrupled! Yes, believe it or not, I just jumped on the social media bandwagon in mid-January this year! I was adamantly opposed to becoming a narcissistic slave to social media, who had to post every aspect of their life every 5 minutes, who couldn’t even enjoy or be present in the moment for being overly concerned with posting a perfect look - that just wasn’t me. I didn’t have time for all that, I didn’t need (or want) that attention; I just preferred to stay behind the camera and showcase my work.

A dear friend (my first-ever design client) had recently got her master’s in Marketing & Public Relations, and she completely revamped my Instagram page, schooled me on what to do and how to do it, and told me to get over whatever preconceived notions I had about it. I’m still adamantly opposed to becoming a narcissistic slave to social media, but I began to break out of my shell. It was very uncomfortable getting in front of the camera - it felt too vulnerable, and at times unauthentic, because I’m actually an introvert. But let me tell you, I have no regrets - the connections I’ve made have turned into some of the most amazing relationships, and some have opened doors I would’ve never imagined.

So, no, I may not have thousands of followers (yet), but at 6 months in, I’m SO super grateful for my 500+, and for the supportive community that I’ve been blessed to become a part of! Thank you all for a beautiful 6 months of connecting, and here’s to many more to come!

It’s been a while since I posted for Words of Wisdom Wednesday 📝 but this one spoke to me because so many times we can get all caught up in what’s trending for interior design, but at the end of the day, if it doesn’t make you smile, if it doesn’t bring you joy, if it doesn’t awaken your senses, if it doesn’t excite your soul, if it doesn’t speak to you in YOUR unique language, I don’t care how trendy it is - it’s not for you! You can never go wrong when you stay true to yourself!

Black History in this country is American history. The way they found a way to try to please us by giving us a month to learn “Black History”? While during all the other 11 months try to erase or white wash the suffering, excellence, perseverance, etc of Black People throughout “American” History. Why is it separated?

We go all in during this month so that this month isn’t erased too!

So I never want to hear “Why do they get a month?” Because we barely get that… Black people now and black people then deserve better.

Enough is enough.

Added some subtle harvest vibes to my staged design for an autumn open house. Stay tuned for before and after pics of my latest flip design…

This design idea just popped in my head💡and I couldn’t rest until I got it out, so I went to my basement, grabbed some decor, and set this up less than 15 minutes - sometimes the end product of those spur-of-the-moment ideas comes out better than the projects you spend weeks designing!
