Our inaugural designer textile collection continues to prove to be one of our most beautiful and versatile collections yet. Just look at how Kim Salmela Atelier (the designer!) used the Windowpane pattern on this custom console. And yes, she designed and made the console, too 💁‍♀️

This pet- and kid-friendly fabric was made at our very own Crypton Mills in North Carolina and has begun making it out into the world since its spring debut. Available now to designers Norwalk Furniture and on the Kim Salmela Atelier website!

We were thrilled to some of our fabrics featured by Designtex as part of their “Sustainability at the Table” project at . From The Designtex team:

“Sustainability has long informed all that we do, from product design to manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution. This year our showroom has been designed for disassembly and reuse. The tables are fabricated using paper tubes (the same tubes we use for bolts of our fabric) and corrugated cardboard, all reusable and recyclable.”

There is so much happening with manufacturing in North Carolina right now and we’re so glad our Western North Carolina mill is part of a renewed investment in the region. This article from The New York Times describes how new companies are bringing business to the region to fill gaps from when so much of the region’s historical textile and furniture manufacturing business left – a period in history that caused a lot of hurt and economic hardship to communities that depended on those industries.

We love knowing that our revival of the formerly Abercrombie Mills (now Crypton Mills!) ensured that the people of Cliffside and King’s Mountain, North Carolina who relied on the mill’s operations for their livelihoods, didn’t experience any gaps.
