In my opinion nothing beats freshly baked bread 🀀 I took it for granted when growing up, eating sourdough everyday. Everything changed when I moved to Scotland and at that time to my surprise there was no β€œreal bread” available to buy 😳🫣 It was one of the first things I missed (sorry maw 🀭🫢) So I had to learn how to make it myself. Times are changing tho and there are many artisan bakeries popping up πŸ‘ so support your local bakers and bakeries! Sourdough bread is amazing! Nutritious, much easier to digest, it fills you up for longer and tastes delicious πŸ‘Œ

Have you heard of kolÑče aka kolache? Nooo πŸ‘€?? Well, lucky for you I’m going to offer these beauties for sale alongside my babka loaves very soon πŸ™Œ

This is my childhood favourite poppy & cherry kolÑček 😍 I remember my mum buying these for breakfast every weekend! Oh god how I miss those times 😌

To make the filling I grind the poppyseed in my wee hand grinder, so they release all the tasty oils. It creates lovely almost like a buttery texture. Then I’ll add wee bit of sugar for the sweets, lemon zest for its lovely fragrance. It pairs beautifully with the poppyseed flavour. And last but not least touch of rum, because I’m not a kid anymore πŸ˜… 🀫 Top it up with some cherries, streusel and it’s done baby πŸ™Œ
