Lambussie District Education Directorate
Lambussie District Education Directorate was established on 29th February, 2008.
This week, district officers and other schedule officers met at the directorate to identify schools that have challenges following our monitoring visit last week. This is to help the DEO to provide tailored support to these schools for improved learning outcomes.
Last week the Lambussie DEO together with GES HQ & T-TEL visited some schools as part of a follow up visit to ensure that the schools are conducting & keeping records of weekly PLC sessions. During the visits the schools shared that they receive support from their SISOs and SMCs.
The Lambussie District Education office this morning organised a staff meeting to introduce a new staff Madam Victoria-The Early Childhood coordinator, and also discuss very pertinent issues such as: Sustainability of the CEP program in the District. The EMIS team ceased the opportunity to present a report on the number of submissions on PLC and Lesson Observations by SISOs, Schedule Officers, and Headteachers. From the report it was evident that some officers were not submitting their PLC observations. It emerged that some officers were still using the old link for submissions while a few had challenges due to their low level of ICT skills.
The DDE and the District Enabler took turns encouraging the officers to continue to observe lessons as well as the PLC sessions, and then submit using the kobocollect tool as proof of work done.
Action Aid Ghana a non Governmental organization in collaboration with Lambussie District Education office today organized a one training workshop for teachers, Circuit Supervisors and officers at the Education Directorate Lambussie. The objectives of the training is to introduce teachers to alternative Discipline, familiarize teachers with positive discipline pack, equip participants in the use of positive discipline pack and start building allies for the campaign against corporal punishment.
Global Life Changers, a reputable service provider, organized a comprehensive two-day training workshop for all teachers in the Lambussie District. The objective of the workshop was to equip the teachers with the necessary skills to navigate the NTC teacher portal, accumulate CDP points, and also provide them with leadership and management training.
Representatives from Ghana Education Service HQ and T-TEL visited the Lambussie District Education Office to review the implementation of the Communities of Excellence Programme and assess it impact on learning outcomes. The team will also be visiting schools in the district to observe firsthand some of the good practices implemented in schools to improve lesson delivery and learning outcomes.
Today the Lambussie District Education Office(DEO) facilitated an information-sharing forum between Change Leaders and District Education Oversight Committee (DEOC) members.
The forum aimed to evaluate the successes, lessons learned, and challenges encountered by Change Leaders in discharging their duties within the district under the Communities of Excellence Programme.
The DEO is making efforts to strengthen the collaboration between Change Leaders and DEOC members, to promote a more coordinated approach towards improving children's learning outcomes.
The Lambussie Education Directorate organized a one-day refresher training for seven (7) Non-GALOP schools on Mobile School Report Card (mSRC) application usage.
DEO staff held General staff meeting this morning to discuss issues relating to; Staff indiscipline, professionalism, poor reporting issues of schedule officers, District teachers welfare and DEO welfare.
The Lambussie District is organising a three-day training workshop on Transition to English (T2E) and Early Grade Reading Materials Implementation for B1, B2, and B3 teachers in all 6 circuits. The training aims to equip teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively use the local languages, specifically Dagaare and Sisaala, in their teaching. This approach will empower teachers to teach confidently and provide quality education to learners in the district.
On 3rd February, 2023, the Lambussie District Communication team visited Hamile and Chebogo Circuits to engage in a productive discussion with teachers in the circuit.
The team discussed topics ranging from teacher professionalism, challenges with teacher discipline and its impact on education, and offered recommendations on how to enhance teacher professionalism in the district.
Gambaga Girls Senior High School went on a procession as the climax of celebrations of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
This week, GES with support from T-TEL organized a 4-day workshop for SISOs, Schedule Officers, and EMIS teams in the Lambussie district to enhance their skills in effective classroom lesson observation and providing feedback to teachers , PLC session facilitation, monitoring and data collection.
The workshop has provided a great opportunity for the officers to better understand and apply the National Teachers’ Standards when observing lessons and during PLC sessions.
The Lambussie District Education Directorate, through the District Assembly, has handed over 111 hexagonal desks and 301 dual desks to be used by 46 KG and 44 primary schools in the district.
This donation is part of efforts to improve quality education and learning outcomes in the district through the Communities of Excellence Programme- a GES-led initiative supported by T-TEL with funding from the Jacobs Foundation.
