Beanstalk Soaps is so excited to share something new I will be doing this craft fair season! This will be a long post, but I promise it is worth the read!

I have done raffles and such to support various charities in the past, but this year I decided to support one charity throughout the entire craft fair season! I wanted to look for a way to do more good in one area, so decided to pledge to donate 10% of the ENTIRE SEASON’S SALES to Sambhali U.S.

I had the honor of attending an info session about Sambhali U.S. at the end of August, and I instantly knew I wanted to be able to support this amazing charity. Sambhali U.S. supports the efforts of Sambhali Trust which operates in Rajasthan, India.

*Trigger Warning- the following text mentions of violence against women, but nothing explicit*

Sambhali Trust supports the women and girls of Rajasthan through vocational training, education and support for gender-based violence. In Rajasthan, there is a very deeply rooted culture of women being subservient to men, which leads to s*x selective abortions and even female infanticide. Very few females finish school here (about 16%), 2/3 of women are illiterate, and many experience physical, s*xual and psychological abuse. The average age a woman is married is 19, and they usually have no say on who they marry.

I cannot begin to cover all of the amazing things this charity is doing to help the women of Rajasthan, and will try to summarize it as well as I can. I encourage everyone to look through their website, at www.sambhalius.org for more information. I have attached pictures of some of the beautiful tapestries the women and girls have made in the program.

Sambhali Trust recognized these horrible conditions and begin teaching women to sew and embroider, along with many other programs such as math, health, language, etc, that allow the women to lead more independent lives. Sambhali Trust now operates 9 Empowerment Centers for women, 10 Primary Education Centers for children, and 3 Boarding Homes where elementary aged girls through graduate-school aged women can live and learn in a safe environment. Sambhali Trust has also founded Nirbhaya and Asdarsh, programs that educate, prevent and support women and girls through gender-based violence topics.

I could honestly go on and on about this charity and the good they are doing, and I am so excited to be able to support them this year. Every purchase you make with me will support them as well! Thank you in advance!
