Buddha Birdie

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership experience designed to give high school students intensive learning activities and sessions to build leadership skills. RYLA District 5580 camp was in session last week at the U of M campus in Crookston.

We talked about:
→ The importance of chasing the spark that makes you feel fully alive.
→ Knowing what lights you up from the inside, and prioritizing those things.
→ When you pay attention to what feeds your energy you move in the direction of the life for which you were intended.
→ You will never have to force anything that aligns with you.

Afterwards a few students shared their incredible art talent... And it was a beautiful reminder of the profound communication and connection that can take place without any words.

Out of all the things high schoolers can be doing... put this near the top of the list. 🌟

Author visits during summer programs are so much fun because we learn about birds and then afterwards they go outside to see if they can spot any of 'em! 🐦

After a 4 year hiatus, the Tangletown Garden & Art Tour is back! Local artists will be showcasing their work in several of the gardens and in the Garden Center. The tour runs until 3pm and I'll there from 9am to 1pm with my chubby birdies!

**Cuteness Warning** Had a fun reading this week with some awesome kiddos, and a teacher snapped this adorable moment during the Q&A. Instead of asking the question where he was sitting... this little buddy came right up to me and stared at me for a solid 15 seconds before he whispered: "I've seen a robin." And then he sat back down.

Definitely the highlight of my week. 🥹🥰❤

Confession: drawing eggs was not as easy as I originally thought. It took attempt after attempt after attempt to finally get the right egg for each of the baby birdies.

I guess you could say that drawing eggs wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. 🙃

My dear friend Kristin owns the cutest gift shop in Lake Elmo called La Vie Est Belle. Her husband Tom met me for the parking lot merchandise exchange so that the Little Birdie Babies could hit the shelves.

Shout out to the awesome husbands (especially the ones named Tom!!) who help keep the dreams of their wives alive and well. 🥰👏

Simon Says Give is a non-profit with a mission to develop the next generation of leaders. One of the ways they do this is through an annual Backpack and School Supply Drive where they partner with other nonprofits, charter schools, and social workers to get backpacks into the hands of kids who need them most.

This year, the goal is to equip 4,000 Minnesota kids with backpacks filled with essential school supplies. Each backpack also includes a special gift: a book from a local author. And Little Birdie Buddies of Minnesota will be part of this year's backpacks! 🐦

Every $10 donation helps us provide more Little Birdie Buddies books to kids, sparking their love for reading, learning and birds. ❤️
