It has been my absolute joy and privilege to have spent the last five years playing with the amazing musicians that been a part of Mission X, both regular members and fill-ins alike. I've met some beautiful people and had some of the most enjoyable moments of my life rocking out with these absolute legends! Queensland is very blessed to be so abundant with such fantastic musicians.
This Saturday night will be our last covers gig on the Queensland scene, as the band has a new mission - to record our own music. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the musicians, venues and of course - you wonderful people in the audience! The support we've received from you has been truly amazing - thank you for everything!!
Let's smash this last one out of the park!! lml
P.s. I'll be posting updates to this page, so stay tuned!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – MISSION X ANNOUNCES HIATUS
After five successful years of performing in Queensland pubs & clubs, I have decided to call time on Mission X’s local cover gigs in order to concentrate on writing and recording original material.
From the beginning, I wanted to offer something unlike the rest, so I started something heavy. This was off the bat of a stint with a Melodic Metal band in Adelaide, so I was itching for a scream anyway. Mission X was it. Our genre slotted in perfectly to certain niche venues, not to mention got us ‘noticed’ - though that was never the end game or goal. We have a steady calendar of cover gigs, but I want more for the band now - I want to work on our own songs.
I personally have some big plans for 2016, which include heaps of studio time for both Mission X and my solo album, so I need to get my voice in shape for it. I’ve been working on a new band project for a couple of years now that involves some musicians I am in complete awe of and a repertoire that is funky, upbeat and less taxing on my voice. So I’ll still be singing regularly at the same venues (and I hope you can all come along and see this amazing new line-up first hand!), I just won’t be busting out Rage Against The Machine or Alice In Chains for at least a few months. I will miss it like crazy, but I’m also looking forward to singing clear opera again.
I’m sad to be saying goodbye to these heavier gigs, as I’ve really, really enjoyed them, but I know it’s all for a greater good (and I know it’s not ‘goodbye’ for long ;-) ). I am forever grateful to the many people that have helped, performed, cleaned up after, taken the heat for & tolerated us (the list goes on!). Mostly, I want to thank all the muso’s both regular and session alike but more importantly, I want to thank all you guys for coming to see us, support us and scream with us.
I’ll keep you all informed of any news & gigs as they come up via the usual channels, but the gig guide on www.abbyskye.com.au is the most reliable.
These are very exciting times!
