One year since my diagnosis today. Can’t thank everyone enough for how much support I’ve had going through this crazy time in my life it really helps when I’m feeling really down. Can’t wait to get back in school to see friends and get back to feeling more myself again. Still have quite a lot more treatment ahead of me but it won’t be as intense. Thank you everyone for following and supporting me. These are some of the fun moments I’ve been able to have this past year.
There's another Blood Drive in Alpine this Saturday, June 19th. If you are able to donate, please make an appointment. There is a national storage so donations are extremely important and greatly appreciated! Anytime you donate, regardless of your blood type, you can use code BR20 to donate on Brody's behalf. Thank you!
It feels so great to not feel bad. Today I made blood counts to start maintenance cycle which is a big step to being closer to the end of my treatment. Still have awhile to go (2.5 years) but today is the end of my previous treatments which really kicked my butt. I’ll finally be able to get back into seeing my friends more often and feeling more like myself again. What a journey it’s been and it’s not over but what a relief to be making progress towards feeling myself. Been riding my bike often as I can and now going to the river. I will be posting on here for any other milestones or some bumps in the road. Thank you all so much for the continuing support it keeps my head up high.💛
Just a reminder that there's a Blood Drive on Saturday, April 24th in Alpine with several spots available. If you donate on another day, please use code BR20 to donate on Brody's behalf. We really appreciate your support!
Appreciation post to the raddest mom out there! Happy birthday momma. Couldn’t ask for anyone else to be as understanding and caring for the crappy treatment I gotta go through. So thankful to have such an awesome mom for me and our whole family. Love you mom happy birthday ❤️
Day 244
It's been 8 months since we were told Brody has Leukemia and he started treatment. There's an upcoming Blood Drive in Alpine on Saturday, April 24th. Please make an appointment to donate. Use code BR20 to donate on Brody's behalf. We appreciate your support!
Day 231 Brody has completed Delayed Intensification!!! This 8 week phase was extremely challenging with several clinic visits to Rady's weekly and 6 visits from nurses at our home. Brody endured 12 sessions, 24 shots total, of Erwinia chemo into his thigh muscles. He had steroid "pulses" where he took them for 1 week on, 1 week off. There was new at home chemo to take plus the usual (almost weekly) lumbar punctures of Methotrexate into his spine. His current blood counts are extremely low, he has little to no immune system, the compounding treatments have taken a toll as predicted. Thankfully, he gets a small break now to let his body recover so he can start Interm Maintenance 2 next week. Thank you to everyone who continues to keep Brody and his family in your positive thoughts and prayers. We all appreciate the love and support so much!
This is a wonderful organization that helps get children being treated for cancer to Rady's. Last week, Brody had 3 appointments and thankfully we can provide transportation for him. But for many families, the working parent has the only vehicle or the family may not have a vehicle at all. Rides with Emilio provides transportation at no cost to the families! Please donate if you can, your donation saves lives!
“Emilio’s Ride Along Campaign” benefiting children battling cancer in Southern California President of Emilio Nares Foundation, Karen Terra, joined Morning Extra Monday to share how you can help low-income children with cancer.
Day 220 Brody needed a blood transfusion today. He got 2 units and it took over 3 hours to administer. He also received Erwinia chemotherapy making it a long day at Rady's. Transfusions help so much while he's going through these intense treatments. We truly appreciate those who donate. Please use code BR20 to donate on Brody's behalf.
Another successful blood drive in Alpine today! Thank you to all of those who donated blood on Brody's behalf! We appreciate it so much! Anyone wanting to donate can, regardless of your blood type. Please use code BR20. Thank you for your support.
February 4th is World Cancer Day. Solidarity with those fighting for their lives. Leukemia is a blood cancer and Brody has a long road to recovery (approx. 3.5 years). Donations can be made to his Go Fund Me account. We really appreciate the love and support.
Enjoy this terrific article by Pam Kragen and The San Diego Union Tribune! It captured his Make-A-Wish Day perfectly! Feel free to share the good news!

We've got another Blood Drive scheduled for Saturday, February 13th from 8:00am-1:30pm at the Women's Club Parking Lot in Alpine. Please register online to secure your spot. Regardless of your blood type, when you donate and use code BR20, your donation is made on Brody's behalf. We appreciate it so much!
Day 177 Brody started Delayed Intensification yesterday. We arrived at Rady's early morning for a LP (Lumbar Puncture) of Methotrexate into his spine. He also got some Vincristine and Doxorubicin (the red stuff) before we left. Brody has to take steroids during this phase as well. Many of these drugs he received in the beginning of treatment and losing his hair is likely to occur again. It's going to be an extremely challenging few months and we appreciate all the love, prayers, positive thoughts and support.
Day 154 After 7 days in the hospital for High Dose Methotrexate chemotherapy, Brody is now home where he belongs! He has completed Interim Maintenance 1 and it's been 5 months since being diagnosed and starting treatment. 2020 has been tough, but Brody is tougher!!!
Thank you to everyone who came out today to donate blood on Brody's behalf! It was another successful blood drive and so many people, just like Brody, will appreciate your generous donation. There's another blood drive scheduled for February so more opportunities to give in 2021! Anyone donating at anytime can use code BR20 and donate on Brody's behalf, regardless of your blood type. Thank you to all who organized and stayed to greet the donors. We appreciate you all!!!
Day 119 Look who got their driver's permit!!!
10/22/20 We just finished a Zoom meeting with some wonderful people from Make-A-Wish. It's been 3 months exactly since Brody was diagnosed and started treatment to fight Acute pre-B cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) High Risk. He's had some extremely challenging days but today was one of his best! Brody wished for a trailer and his wish has been granted!!! They are working on the details and figuring out what kind of trailer they can get him. We're so excited! Thank you everyone for your prayers, your positive energy, and your continued support!!!
Day 85 Brody had a long day at Rady's. The chemo he had a reaction to last month was diluted and given over 7 hours. He still had an allergic reaction (this time mostly on his feet instead of his hands) but it was manageable. Brody is staying overnight for continued observation. We're so glad it all turned out okay since there's a national shortage of the alternative drug. Thank you for your continued support, we appreciate you all!
Day 57 Brody had a reaction to some chemo today. He's staying the night at Rady's for continued observation but doing well. His hands itched bad and he broke out in a rash for awhile but luckily his breathing was not compromised. Please keep him in your positive thoughts and prayers. We appreciate you!
The Blood Drive was a terrific success!!! Thank you to everyone who came out in the 113 degree weather to donate and support Brody! What an incredible feeling of solidarity! We love you all!
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Chadwick Boseman graciously volunteered his time to visit children battling cancer while secretly battling colon cancer himself. We never truly know what others are enduring. We appreciate his generosity and the legacy of movies that live on forever. Rest in Power, Chadwick!
Day 38 Brody is back home!!! After 7 days at the hospital, we're all so excited to have him back! Brody missed us all...and his truck! Thank you for your continued support, we really appreciate it!
Day 33 Brody is doing much better!!! He was so happy to wake up feeling good today. He's eating anything and everything he can, watching old movies like Goonies, Wall•E, Finding Nemo, and How to Train Your Dragon. We're in excellent hands here at Children's Rady's hospital and plan to transfer care here indefinitely. As his Mom, I can't express enough how impressive it is to watch Brody during this process. Even on his worst days, he's kind and appreciative to all of those caring for him. Brody is a Warrior!!! The absolute bravest person I know! We know you've been praying and sending us your love and positive thoughts, we feel it! We're all in this together! Thank you!
Day 32 Brody has had the most challenging day of his life. We went to Kaiser at 2:30am and by 7pm he was transferred via ambulance to Children's Rady's hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. He had a seizure due to low sodium and Rady's is able to treat him for that. We need your prayers, positive thoughts and energy now, please.
