This is my friend Lisa, we have known each other for some years, we met through our local running club.
Lisa was always the most happy bubbliest, fun person to be around. She went off grid a few years ago, I hadn’t heard from her for some time, and out of the blue I received a message from her, this was last year, saying she has been in rehab for alcoholism and totally struggling with life. She wanted to get back running to help her mental health and general fitness and asked if I would be prepared to meet her and do some running sessions. I was shocked to hear this , but of course said yes. I was honoured she had reached out to me. We met once a week for a few months, but things were rocky for Lisa, she attempted to take her life on several occasions, life was not good. She stopped running as she was put on a 3 month rehab programme. We kept in contact as much as possible, my door is always open for her.
Just before Christmas she got back in contact, life was a bit better and she was moving on, but announced she was going run the London Landmarks half marathon in April!! And could I help her train! Absolutely was my response!!!
We’re back meeting once week and I’m helping her follow a ‘Jeffing’ plan ( walk/run). We run, walk, talk, and sometimes cry. It’s not just about the half marathon and running, it’s about connecting with someone and hopefully being part of her journey to accepting who and where she is now.
Her journey is a long one, there will be highs and lows, I just hope she continues to reach out and keep believing in herself. She is a true inspiration and now doing so much to help other users and reach out to them with her story.

My advice, never judge someone on what you see on the outside, you never know what’s going on behind closed doors.

Finally got round to presenting this lovely lot with their TopCoach couch to 5K certificates!
The day they ran the 5K the weather was so atrocious , we decided to do it their lunch break a few weeks later in the dry! I hardly recognised them in their ‘normal clothes’! 😂

New couch to 5K!
Run 1 week 1 done! ✅ met this great bunch today, I am privileged to help them on their couch to 5k journey. Thank you Matthew Thomas for helping to get this up and running (excuse the pun!)! This is a brilliant way to get outside, keep fit, boost your mental wellbeing and work in a group to help and motivate each other 😊🏃♀️🥰🤩🎉

Club track night tonight! 😊 1600 x 3 with 200 recovery. Such a good feeling running on the track, nice and bouncy and so good to be able to do consistent reps. What a great feeling you get from training with your running buddies, feeling the love ❤️
