March 21, 2021: One of our team members, Rishabh Bajaj formally graduated from his former institute, the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela as the top undergraduate student across all programs. He was awarded the gold medal by the Hon'ble President of India, Ram Nath Kovind. Rishabh was also named the top civil engineering graduate and won two endowment awards.

February 18, 2021: Rishabh successfully secured the Don Grierson Memorial Award. The spirit of the award is to reward a PhD student "whose research in structural engineering aims to advance analytical and/or numerical technologies has the greatest potential for impact either at social or theoretical level". Automatic Reconnaissance Image Organizer (ARIO) Released (Nov 13, 2019)
The ARIO dashboard enables engineers to rapidly organize big image data into coherent categories and generate reports to understand and communicate disaster consequences faster. ARIO utilizes pre-trained CNN classifiers to automatically organize thousands of reconnaissance images into specific building details (e.g. building components, damage level, or building overviews), and general metadata (e.g. GPS, watches, drawings, or manual measurements).

New course: Smart Structure Technology (Jan 08, 2019)
Dr. Yeum offers a new elective course of smart structure technology. This course offers an introduction to the emerging smart structure technologies in civil engineering. Among several topics in smart structure, this course focuses on structural assessment using optical sensor data by implementing state-of-art image processing and computer vision techniques.

Secure the NVIDIA GPU Grant (Dec 19, 2018)
This program seeds a gift of one GPU intended to enable researchers to get started using GPUs. A Titan V GPU is received for developing our post-disaster image analysis research.

We create the data-sharing agreement with Aerialtronics regarding the development of vision-based visual inspection using an autonomous drone equipped with a new dual spectrum sensor, PENSAR.
