Reopen Kansas Schools
If you support the safe, on-time reopening of Kansas schools, this page is for you! Local school districts know what's best for their community.
The governor's one-size-fits-all approach to delaying school openings isn't sensible.
Yesterday was a HUGE win for folks looking to return local control to their communities, and re-open schools in the time frame they see fit. Thank you for your participation and engagement. We'll leave this page open in case another need arises. Way to go, team!
Looks like we have the votes!!

In an interview last night, State BOE member, Ann Mah, said she's mainly hearing from parents who support the governor's order to delay the start of schools. If that's NOT your opinion, let her know. Be nice! Simply ask her to vote no on the governor's executive order and allow decisions to be made by the local school boards. Here's her contact info.

We anxiously await Governor Kelly's executive order relating to the delayed opening for schools in Kansas. When the order is available, we'll post it here. In the meantime, send those emails to the State School Board! It's our understanding the input has been HUGE! Keep it up!
From the Wall Street Journal's editorial board: "The evidence—scientific, health and economic—argues overwhelmingly for schools to open in the fall." https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-case-for-reopening-schools-11594681985

Governor Kelly plans to issue an executive order delaying the start of Kansas schools until after Labor Day. However, a new state law passed during the 2020 legislative session requires the Kansas Board of Education to approve orders that affect the opening or closing of schools. If you want schools to open on time, contact your state school board member. You can find yours by clicking the link below. Simply let them know you support your school opening this fall, and politely ask them to vote against the governor's executive order. It's easy, and they're eager to hear from you!
