The 5th gen 4runner Baja Mid Pro is now available as a DIY kit for those with fabrication skills that want to save some money! Everything is laser cut American steel with tab/slot alignment, even the tubing. Have parts for over 30 bumpers in stock ready to ship!

Figured it was about time someone offered a lightweight, low profile, Baja style front bumper for the LX450 / 80 series LC!

Tacked up test fit went great! Now to fully weld it out and send off to powdercoat. More install pics (with winch) coming soon.

Currently planning to start taking orders mid to late July. Pricing will be $1100 for the base bumper and +$125 for the modular grille guard.

Little update for outstanding orders... Production parts are arriving from my laser cutters on Friday! Will be spending the following week welding and either shipping raw steel orders or dropping off parts with powdercoating.

More pics of the 14+ Limited version of the Baja Mid Pro! Not a lot of options out there for limiteds so glad I was able to make this work. Just a note that this is the first prototype and production will have more adjustability to allow for a body gap.

Still working on the updated Prerunner bumper design for the 4G 4runner / GX470 / 2G Tacoma and hoping to have it ready to go later this spring!

Who’s ready for Approach Series DIY kits?!? Will be releasing both plated and hybrid versions end of next week!

Still playing around with pricing but currently planning on the following.

In case you haven’t been following along on my stories, have made a few updates to the 5G 4runner Baja Mid-Pro bumper!

- Bolt on aluminum 30” lightbar cover for the 14+ non-limited. Was designed around Diode Dynamics and Baja Designs bars but should fit most single row bars as long as the mounting points are centered on the ends of the bar and less than 32” apart. This also nicely covers any cut area for those that are upgrading from another company’s low profile bumper 😉

- Bolt on grill guard tube for the 14+ non-limited. Has room underneath to fit multiple 4” pod lights to maintain the classic prerunner look. Unfortunately not compatible with TSS.

- Tightened up the wing ends for the 14+ non-limited to fit tighter to the body. Would have been nice to have a “one fits all” bumper but wasn’t a fan of the gap. Will be offering two different versions of the bumper. One for the OG’s and limiteds, and another tightened up for the 14+.

Prototype parts have already been ordered from my laser cutters and will hopefully be welding up and test fitting in about a month! Already have a 14+ and OG lined up to test on, but if you have a limited and are local to MN or willing to make the drive, will offer a heavy discount in exchange for letting me use your vehicle for testing!

Few more pics of the new 5th Gen 4runner mid height bumper concept! Here are some of the key features:

- Primary designed for the 14+ sr5/pro but will also fit limiteds and OG’s!

- Weighs in around 75 lbs, so extremely lightweight compared to other full size winch bumpers on the market.

- Designed around the harbor freight badlands 12k winch. Others of similar or smaller sizes will also fit.

- Ends terminate under the stock fog lights and you viper cut the bumper the rest of the way, so gives the customer a little creative freedom.

- Replaceable aluminum lower skid/cover.

- Multiple pod light mounting options. Designed around Diode Dynamics SS3’s but others will fit.

- Expected production release around May. Pricing isn’t locked in yet but shooting for around $1200 welded and $750 DIY kit.

- Ships UPS ground for a fraction of what others charge for freight!

Quick reminder to get your welded bumper orders in by the end of the month! Starting Feb 1st I will temporarily be switching to DIY only for a couple months while my wife and I welcome our first child. Goal is to ship all open orders by early March. Will resume welded orders around June and will hopefully have a few more designs added to the lineup 😉

The new Frame Brackets V2 are available to order!

Will fit 03-09 4G 4runner, 03-09 GX470, and 06-14 FJ Cruiser. Should also fit the 5G 4runner but pending test fit confirmation.

These add much needed strength to aftermarket bumpers or hidden winch mounts and prevent the stud plates on the ends of the frame rails from getting ripped off during heavy winching/recovery.

Made from laser cut and formed 1/4” A36 steel. Only design on the market that wraps around behind the lower crossmember to keep the load off the hardware.

$120 for raw steel or $160 powdercoated black. Ships for free within the lower 48!

Happy New Year everyone! 2023 was an amazing year for our family and Ascend. Launched multiple new designs and built and shipped over 100 bumpers! Not a lot of people know this but Ascend is just a small one man operation (with a little help here and there) and I’m running it on the side of being a full time mechanical engineer. As we enter 2024 my wife and I would like to share some amazing news, we are expecting our first child in March! Will be teaching her how to weld as soon as she’s able lol.

With that being said, some changes are coming and my shop time will be extremely limited. Starting February 1st, I will TEMPORARILY be putting a pause on new welded bumper orders and only offering DIY for a few months. And yes, I plan to offer my Approach front bumpers as DIY too! Once I figure out my time management, or possibly decide to take Ascend full time 🤔, I’ll start taking welded orders again. Sooo if you were considering getting a bumper soon, make sure to order by the end of the month!

Have been working with to get measurements for modifying the wings on the Approach series to fit with McQueen fenders on the GX470. Turned out great! Will have these as an option on the site soon.

Side note, unfortunately the headlight fillers will not work with McQueen fenders without extensive modifications.
