In Greek mythology, Medusa (/mɪˈdjuːzə, -sə/; Ancient Greek: Μέδουσα, romanized: Médousa, lit. 'guardian, protectress'),[1] also called Gorgo, was one of the three Gorgons. Medusa is generally described as a human female with living venomous snakes in place of hair; those who gazed into her eyes[2] would turn to stone. Most sources describe her as the daughter of Phorcys and Ceto,[3] although the author Hyginus makes her the daughter of Gorgon and Ceto.[4]
Medusa was beheaded by the Greek hero Perseus, who then used her head, which retained its ability to turn onlookers to stone, as a weapon[5] until he gave it to the goddess Athena to place on her shield. In classical antiquity, the image of the head of Medusa appeared in the evil-averting device known as the Gorgoneion.
According to Hesiod and Aeschylus, she lived and died on Sarpedon, somewhere near Cisthene. The 2nd-century BC novelist Dionysios Skytobrachion puts her somewhere in Libya, where Herodotus had said the Berbers originated her myth as part of their religion.
£50 Venus of Lespugue . Here She is! The Venus of Lespugue is a Venus figurine, a statuette of a n**e female figure of the Gravettian, dated to between 26,000 and 24,000 years ago.
Free signed for delivery in UK.
It was discovered in 1922 in the Rideaux cave of Lespugue (Haute-Garonne) in the foothills of the Pyrenees by René de Saint-Périer (1877-1950)
Of all the steatopygous Venus figurines discovered from the upper Paleolithic, the Venus of Lespugue, if the reconstruction is sound, appears to display the most exaggerated female secondary sexual characteristics, especially the extremely large, pendulous breasts.
According to textile expert Elizabeth Wayland Barber,[1] the statue displays the earliest representation found of spun thread, as the carving shows a skirt hanging from below the hips, made of twisted fibers, frayed at the end.

🔥New on my Etsy shop 🔥The Gumelnita culture, a Neolithic civilization in Romania and Bulgaria (4500-3500 BC), is known for its ceramic statuettes. These small clay figurines, crafted by hand or molds, depict humans and animals with intricate details.
Particularly, female figurines emphasize feminine attributes. The purpose of these statuettes is debated, with theories suggesting religious, ritual, or decorative functions.
Regardless, they provide valuable insights into Gumelnita's artistic and cultural expressions, showcasing their creativity and interest in representing human and animal life through art.

In Glastonburry's hallowed embrace,
Where ancient spirits whisper grace,
A sister circle dances wild and free,
Beneath the moon, the Mother Goddess weaves her decree.
Womanhood blooms in sacred land,
Where wisdom's touch, divine and grand,
The daughters of witches, fierce and bold,
Carry the tales that were once untold.
Through ages past, they could not be tamed,
Their spirits aflame, forever unclaimed,
Like phoenix rising from ashes' urn,
They carry the essence of wisdom's return.
In the heart of Avalon, magic thrives,
As the moonlight casts its gentle vibes,
The sister circle gathers with pride,
Their voices harmonize, no longer to hide.
They honor the goddess within each soul,
Embracing strength, making spirits whole,
For Glastonburry is the sacred ground,
Where womanhood's power shall forever resound.
With love and courage, they heal the scars,
Nurturing dreams beneath countless stars,
Daughters of witches, eternally reborn,
Their legacy woven, their spirits adorn.
So let us celebrate this timeless bond,
In Glastonburry, where magic responds,
Together we stand, forever unburned,
In sisterhood's embrace, wisdom returned.
🔥New 🔥Demeter clay plate . Demeter, the Greek goddess of harvest, held immense importance to farmers.
Her adored daughter, Persephone, shared her love for nature.
While gathering flowers, Persephone was captured by Hades, the God of the Underworld, who desired her as his wife. Demeter's grief halted Greece's harvest.
Desperate, she implored Zeus for help. Moved by Earth's suffering, Zeus agreed. Hades, seeking to keep Persephone, offered her pomegranate seeds.
Having eaten six, she was bound to spend six months in the Underworld annually. When Persephone joined Demeter, joy flourished and crops thrived, but when she returned to Hades, growth ceased. This myth explained plant growth for ancient Greeks.

It was discovered during an Historic Scotland dig at the Links of Noltland, on Westray, Orkney, Scotland, in the summer of 2009.
It was the first Neolithic carving of a human form to have been found in Scotland, and to date it is the earliest depiction of a face found in the United Kingdom.

Maybe your mother was the perfect mother.
Maybe she carried you
bled for you
sang to you
smiled at you
nurtured you and marveled in you.
Maybe she understood your essence
and was patient and let you unfold
in your own time and in your own way
honoring the heart of you all the while.
Maybe your mother cared for you;
Maybe she was there for you
long past childhood days.
Maybe your mother worked for you
cooked for you
sewed for you.
Maybe your mother listened to you
held space for you
Maybe your mother laughed with you
played with you
stayed with you through all your years.
Maybe your mother protected you,
But
Maybe she neglected you
rejected you.
Maybe she abandoned you
hard-handed you
betrayed you
flayed you.
Maybe your mother couldn’t mother.
Maybe your mother forgot you
lost interest
grew cold.
Maybe she never really loved you.
Maybe you were just her duty
for a little while.
Maybe your mother did the best she could
with what she had.
Maybe she was sick or sad.
Maybe her mother was bitter or bad
and hurt her in her deepest parts.
Now
Maybe you are a mother.
Maybe you are a perfect mother.
Maybe you pour abundant love into
your daughters, your sons.
Maybe you delight in them.
Maybe you struggle
Maybe you feel exhausted
resentful
lost and unseen.
Maybe you feel nothing.
Maybe you are just surviving.
Maybe you are not a mother
but long to be a mother
Maybe you mother others.
Maybe you don’t want to be a mother;
will never be a mother
Yet
We all need a mother
Yes, we do
And maybe there is a perfect mother
just for you.
She is the mother of your mother
and your mother’s mother
and back as far as the eye can see
or mind can know
or soul can feel
to the first mother.
Lie on the grass and feel Her heart.
You were formed of Her earth.
You come from Her waters.
Her winds kiss your cheek eternally.
Her rains cry with you when you cry
and wash your wounds.
She will heal you
nourish you
wait for you.
She will give you beauty
give you joy
give you new life
again and again.
She will always be there
to enfold you in Her embrace
when at last you return —
Maybe you have the perfect mother . . .
