The Importance of Active Mobility🦵
⬆️ North ⬇️ South
When martial arts or chess people talk about “end game”, for me, that’s what this position represents.
The north/south choke has become my best submission the last two years. Simply because I’ve consciously chosen to put in time to make ever smaller circles of understanding in this positional deadzone 🌀
What drew me to it was it’s difficultly and nuance.
Because your latissimus muscle has less two-point discrimination, than let’s say your hand or forearm, it’s hard to discern whether the choke is being applied correctly without prior experience and a little finesse.
Ever since learning about cardiopulmonary so deeply, I’ve come to notice that there is a reflexive slowing of an opponent’s heart rate when a north/south choke is being applied correctly 🫀
Because of the inherent positioning of my ear to my opponent’s chest, I don’t need a stethoscope to pick up on this detail. Simply all you need is the intention to notice 🩺⚡️
The purpose of today's training is to defeat yesterday's understanding ⚡️🥋
