We are happy to introduce our , a monthly feature on Gorgeous You that showcases a woman who inspires us and shares what makes her feel ✨This month, meet Anna Crollman. Anna was diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 27 and is an amazing example of a woman who has used her breast cancer diagnosis to bring joy and hope to others. We were first introduced to Anna through her beautiful, bold, honest blog My Cancer Chic where she openly shares her cancer journey, fertility struggles, fashion and lifestyle advice and her beautiful family with her followers.

In 2015 after celebrating her first wedding anniversary Anna discovered a lump on her breast. Anna’s treatment plan was surgery, chemotherapy and targeted hormone therapy. Before chemo Anna opted to have her embryos harvested and frozen in the hopes of having children one day.

Anna was determined to tackle cancer by choosing “happiness, strength and positivity”. After discovering that there were a lack of resources for young women whose goal was to “thrive” through their cancer journey, she created My Cancer Chic – a lifestyle blog designed to “inspire women to thrive through adversity”. Being a lover of all things beauty and fashion Anna’s plan was to tackle cancer with style and wanted other young women to “find their confidence and see their beauty during cancer” as well. She has done this through leading by example. In turn, Anna has found strength and inspiration from her followers. In Anna’s own words – “I had found my tribe - my sisterhood. I found inspiration and renewed strength through our shared experience.”

This past year Anna welcomed a son Mason into the world, who is a continual source of joy for her and her husband.

What makes Anna feel gorgeous? “Focusing on my self confidence, feeling good on the inside and then rocking a feminine outfit and a pink lip!” Anna, mission accomplished!

Who we are in this moment is not the same person we were in the past or who we will be in the future. Life experiences will continue to mold and shape us but it is personal growth that creates the masterpiece.

We are happy to introduce our . A monthly feature on Gorgeous You that showcases a woman who inspires us and what makes her feel ✨ This month, meet Tina Winberg – mother, outdoor & cottage enthusiast, multiple myeloma survivor and maker of the best eggs benny! Tina is an inspiration to all that know her for her ever-present optimism, strength and insatiable enthusiasm for life.

In 2016 and after noticing a new and persistent pain in her rib cage area, it was confirmed that Tina had fractured a rib. What was most concerning about this diagnosis was that Tina had no recollection of falling or injuring herself. Later, a CT scan confirmed that she had Multiple Myeloma or MM, a blood cancer that causes cancer cells to accumulate in the bone marrow, making them fragile and brittle. “Your bones end up looking like swiss cheese”.

Tina was eager to share her story and help raise awareness about Multiple Myeloma, a lesser-known form of cancer. After doing some research and discovering that MM is most common in African American males in their 70’s, Tina struggled with her diagnosis as a young and healthy woman. “No one I spoke to had even heard of MM. I felt really lonely…” Eventually Tina found a connection through a 15-year MM survivor and a Facebook group for younger MM warriors from coast to coast.

Tina feels blessed for all of the love and support she received from her family and friends during her treatment and in particular, her daughter, whom she describes as her biggest supporter. “I wake up every morning and send out positive affirmations to the universe…I send out as much love as I can and surround myself with like-minded people.”

What makes Tina feel gorgeous? “My new soul makes me feel gorgeous.”💗

We are happy to introduce our . A monthly feature on Gorgeous You that showcases a woman who inspires us and what makes her feel ✨ This month, meet Loy Martinez. She is one of our Gorgeous You models and with her beautiful smile, she reflects her warmth and generosity. Spending time with Loy feels like a big hug. 🤗

Living alone and being geographically separated from her family, Loy’s breast cancer diagnosis was not only devastating but posed many logistical issues. Being a person that was always helping others, she worried about how she was going to navigate the realities of a cancer diagnosis on her own. As it turned out, her “work family”, friends and even her GP rallied around her. She quickly learned to accept help and rely on others as intricate and detailed schedules were created and distributed for meals, transportation and support during appointments and over-night after surgery. There were even back-ups to the back-ups! “Had it not been for the overwhelming source of support, care, love and acts of kindness from individuals who availed themselves to me, I am not sure where I would be today.”

It was these unselfish acts that motivated Loy to become a peer volunteer at . Now that she is back at work, Loy has started an internal cancer support network for her colleagues recognizing that whether you are personally dealing with a cancer diagnosis or supporting a friend or loved one, cancer affects us all. On top of this, Loy has made it her personal mission to send out inspirational messages and blessings daily. Upon reflection, Loy admits that having cancer was one of the best things to have happened to her. “It afforded me the opportunity to re-connect with and find myself again. Not to mention, the many wonderful people I have met along the way.”

What makes Loy feel gorgeous? “The ability to bring joy and laughter to others.” Loy, you have found your wings 😇

We are happy to introduce our . A monthly feature on Gorgeous You that showcases a woman who inspires us and what makes her feel . ✨ This month, meet Janna Crown, a British Columbia resident, cat lover 😻, lawyer and cancer fighter!

While in her last term of law school, Janna Crown was diagnosed with Stage 2, ER/PR+ breast cancer. Her surgeon advised that she would never have biological children, suggested that she should drop out of law school and “get her affairs in order”. Shocked and scared, Janna struggled to find resources that addressed her unique needs and concerns as a young woman facing breast cancer. Eventually Janna met another young ‘breastie’ who helped connect her to a broader community of young women navigating the realities of a breast cancer diagnosis at a younger age. “I knew I couldn’t control cancer, but I didn’t want to stop living and enjoying life regardless of the curveballs my diagnosis was going to throw my way.” And continue to live she has! Janna was successful in finishing law school while navigating endless doctors appointments, six surgeries and failed treatments. Three weeks after her mastectomy and three weeks prior to another surgery, Janna participated in her first Run For the Cure event. Along with her team. “The B**b Squad”, they have raised over 20K for the cause, she has continued to be involved as a participant, and just this past year Janna was asked to be the Survivor Speaker. “I’m not the same person I was before my diagnosis, but I’m finding a way to enjoy every day, and live a life that I love. I feel truly lucky.”

What makes Janna feel gorgeous? Red lipstick! 💄 “…it makes me feel vibrant and alive even when I’m feeling sick.” 😍

We are excited to share our . A monthly feature on Gorgeous You that showcases a woman who inspires us.✨ This month, meet Dr. Amy Smith Morris, a small town Canadian cancer pharmacist turned cancer survivor.

Having obtained a degree in pharmacy and a clinical doctorate with a focus in oncology, Amy’s real education in cancer care came when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 30. She saw her diagnosis as a unique opportunity and documented her cancer story on social media while answering her viewers' questions. Highlighted by local and national media, Amydee PharmD inspires us to discuss the physical, financial, and emotional impacts of cancer on patients, caregivers, and those working in health care. Amy founded Surviv[her] (www.survivher.ca), an online support group where young women diagnosed with cancer can connect and share.🙌 Frustrated with a lack of detection and treatment advances, Amy initiated a research grant to support Saskatchewan researchers working in cancer care for women. As a lecturer (College of Pharmacy and Nutrition, University of Saskatchewan), she teaches pharmacy students clinical concepts with examples from her patient story. And…on top of all of these very admirable accomplishments, Amy and her husband were blessed with a healthy baby boy in February 2018. Congratulations! 👶🏻🎉

“Now, after being diagnosed, I feel that this is what I am supposed to be doing: This is the path I’m supposed to be on.” 🙏🏻

We are happy to introduce our . A monthly feature on Gorgeous You that showcases a woman who inspires us and what makes her feel .✨ This month, meet Lisa Lurie, a breast cancer survivor whose personal experience with cancer inspired her to become a patient advocate, author, speaker and the co-founder of Cancer Be Glammed. An organization with a mission very similar to our own, CBG aims to empower women facing all forms of cancer to recover with dignity, positive self-esteem, and personal style. 🙌

Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 47 and in a very short period of time could barely recognize herself. “It was soul destroying”. Her good friend Ellen, also battling cancer, understood and offered to help. The two women began searching for practical-yet-fashionable recovery products and style solutions to help Lisa reclaim her sense of “self”. Much to their surprise, it was an extremely difficult exercise and realized that so many other women must be facing the same challenges. In 2009, Cancer Be Glammed was born with the intent to help prepare women for the non-medical, appearance-related side effects of surgery and treatment and to provide them with easy access to fashionable recovery products and lifestyle solutions.

What makes Lisa feel gorgeous? "The laughter and love of close family and friends makes me feel gorgeous. When we are together and having a good time, I cannot stop smiling and laughing, that’s when I feel beautiful inside and out!"

Please read Lisa’s full story on our website.
