Sent my Lacy dog to a friend yesterday at lunch because he wasn’t good enough for public work. He’s an excellent camp dog.
Track 1 789 yard gut shot recovered.
Track 2 690 yard bay and bang
Track 3 jumped and outran the dog.

This is just an example of how tracking real quick with a less than average dog makes it look great.

This is also why we have a screening process to have a dog on the list. And yes he could run all the 10-12 hour mach tracks you want to lay for him.

Tip of the day.
You hunters that hunt around briar thickets make a Christmas list of Dans briar clothing.
Chaps
Button up shirt or hoodie. Or both…
Good leather gloves.

If your deer can get into the thicket, you need to be able to get it out.

Don’t be worried about the rain. If rain washes the blood trail away, call in the dog. Rain doesn’t bother the scent, only makes it better.

The calls are rolling already this morning. Give thanks to the Lord for the blessings he’s gifted you with. Happy hunting.

It’s go time ladies and gentleman! Arkansas urban bow season opens today!
If you make a questionable shot or a good shot that just doesn’t bleed like it should, give someone a call. Hopefully they can bring out a dog and come help you but remember these urban hunts are a little different for us. Most of the time you will need an on lead dog so a lot of us can not help you but there are people that can. Make a call and we’ll get you in touch with the right people.
Happy hunting and good luck.

The deer that didn’t bleed enough to die.

20/12/2021

Had a track cancelled because there wasn’t enough blood so they didn’t kill the deer.
I can’t stress this enough. The amount of blood you find doesn’t mean ANYTHING as far as a recovery. Ok I’m a little wrong on that, typically if you track a lot of blood for a long way and then loose it I don’t have much luck on those tracks. The deer we do recover, the deer that you tracked 70-80 yards and don’t bleed for crap. I may take a track 600-800 yards and find two or three drops through out the entire track.
Point is. Don’t not call or track because you don’t see blood.
Wonder how many missed deer are left laying in the woods every year?

Tracks are getting a little slower so so y’all want to guess how many deer have been recovered by ABTN listed trackers?
If I remember correctly we also have 8 bear, the only elk track that I know of was not recovered.
