Persimmons, or Japanese fruit as we locally know it, is an exotic fruit, rich in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants.These fruits may be small in size but are loaded with vital minerals of calcium, magnesium, phosphorous for bones and joints, potassium to tackle hypertension, vitamin A to help uplift vision, vitamin c to help with your immunity, fiber to enhance your digestion and what not.

Pro tip: If you feel like this fruit dries out your mouth, go for pieces that are fully ripe. Those won't lead to a dry mouth.

Breastfeeding is essential for so many reasons. Many of us know this but rarely act to make it accessible for everyone. There are simple ways to promote the health of children in our community.

1. Provide support to mothers with postnatal depression.
2. Promote breastfeeding everywhere by spreading awareness and providing concealed facilities in public areas.
3. Support the new mothers in your family so that they can feed their young ones with ease.
4. Raise voice for maternity leaves
5. Give a mother the space to exist as a human in addition to being a mother

BONE HEALTH: SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST MILK

Our bones provide us support, produce hormones, produce blood cells and provide our body with calcium when dietary sources aren't enough. (Yes! So much more than just composing our skeleton)

And to keep our bones healthy, we make sure or at least try to consume enough milk. One glass of milk can fulfill as much as 1/3 of our daily calcium requirements. But our bones are made of much more than calcium and so require other things as well.
At a certain age, our bone density starts decreasing. To preserve bone health we need vitamin D and regular exercise in addition to an adequate calcium intake.

Calcium sources: Yogurt, Cheese, Nuts, Beans, Fortified foods;
Vitamin D sources: Sunlight, Fatty fish, supplements;
Exercise: May range from regular intensive walking, jogging to weight bearing aerobic activities and strength training.
